WJFW - Silver Alert issued for missing Waukesha man allegedly traveling to Wausau


  • The Wisconsin DOJ issued a silver alert for missing 66-year-old John Joseph Abel of Waukesha, who was allegedly driving to Wausau Wednesday night.
  • Abel is a white male, 5'8" and 247 lbs with brown hair, hazel eyes and a large scar under his chin/neck.
  • He was last seen wearing a baseball cap, flannel shirt, beige and red vest and blue jeans.
  • Abel was in contact with his brother Jan. 21 while he was at the St. Vincent de Paul store on Sunset Dr. in Waukesha.
  • He left his residence on Jan. 22 about 5 pm to visit his brother in Wausau but never arrived.
  • Abel was last seen driving a silver 2006 Volvo XC70 with license plate 173ZEK which is missing its rear bumper shield.
Anyone with information on Abel is asked to call City of Waukesha Police Department at 262-524-3820.

Alerts like these always concern me. If JA took back roads, which might be icy, he could have ended up in a ditch. IIRC, that area is quite rural.
