Can someone clarify if Cafeguy was also the guy at SSB who Kelly stayed with when her sister left? Or are they two separate guys?

I'm having a tough time thinking Cafeguy did it, unless he thinks he's so smart that he would outwit LE. Otherwise, why give up your blood and DNA and not lawyer up? Kelly wasn't so well-hidden that she would never be found, so giving those things wasn't a good idea if you committed the crime.

On the other hand, this second guy story... hubby suggested the "after bar" party might have gotten Kelly to go with second guy. We both agree that Cafeguy probably was walking Kelly home with the expectation of getting some action. I also think this jives with the sister not talking about the phone call - that Kelly maybe said something about hooking up with one of the guys, and the sister didn't want to smear her reputation with the press.

I wonder if there was activity on her bank account, credit cards and/or cell phones. Maybe that is why they thought she was still alive and using them. If that is the case they need to be checking cameras at banks, atms and shopping centers or tracking where the cards were used.

Hopefully they won't run into the same problems they did at the bar where they asked for the tapes too late (taped over).

Funny you should bring that up! This same "story" was used in another case and it worked the first time...

On March 27, 1979, 20-year-old Julie Speerschneider mysteriously vanished. Shortly after her disappearance, a man told police that he had picked up Julie, who he had recognized from media reports, along with a male companion and dropped them off at the corner of Johnson and Brearly. The witness gave a description of the man to investigators, but they were unable to identify him.

First, I think it's great that people are talking about this and other cases. I get the feeling that you all have good intentions about what you do or what you say. I think you're really trying to help. The problem is, that many of you simply don't understand how a criminal investigation works, and the ONLY information you have is that of which you read in the media. That information is days/weeks behind the investigation.

The media is more about coverage. Most media outlets have an agenda. I can't and won't take the time to explain it further. Take it with a grain of salt. The news media also feels they are entitled to priviledged information, and that if they pressure enough people they will get what they want. So in an attempt to appease the media, LE releases bits of info, keeping in mind that they need to save something for the next time the media cries. If it were up to me, I wouldn't release ANYTHING unless it were to HELP in the investigation.

Don't get me wrong, the media can also help in an investigation. Sometimes LE will even give out, I won't say lies, but mis-information to "play" a suspect. You must remember it's a delicate balance. Anyway, Enough about the media.

Law Enforcement. After reading these 10 pages it is clear to me that many of you think LE is inept at their job. Nothing could be further from the truth. These investigators have years of college training, years of expirience and the latest technology. There are many factors and variables that must be considered before, during, and after an investigation. It is not as simple as you might think.

If something you read in the papers doesn't make sense, that just tells me LE is doing their job.

In closing I would just like to say...have a little confidence in the LE in this country. They are better than you think...

Whisky, you make good points. Fox (the dreaded media) did say this afternoon, to be cool with LE, they think LE has someone in their sight and it won't be long.

Things may not be coming out and going the way that we think they should or would like them to.
But they have found Kelly and Im willing to bet that they will walk away with a conviction!

The anchorage police department is VERY closed mouthed when it comes to open investigations . There are two cases I can easily recall where there seemed to be little or no progress on the case, but when it was all said and done, it became clear that LE had known exactly who had committed the murder, managed to get them put away for a much lesser crime without the public having a clue, put a whole case together and suddenly filed charges. In one case I remember a little girl - thirteen - snuck out of her window late at night and never returned. They found her body in the nearby woods a couple of days later. Her boyfriend was the last person to speak to her on the phone and he had told LE and the press she said she was going out with "brandon". That was mentioned and that was the last we heard of it. I assumed stupidly that it must have been someone the bf didnt' know or that the bf committed the homicide and made up some random name. But no, Brandon was a real person, whom she knew quite well. And while the police got together the evidence they needed, they managed to put him in jail on some minor unrelated charge. And then, six months later BAM, the whole story is in the paper, down the last detail.

I think our police also have the respect of the local press - the news people do not leak police investigation stuff.

This is what I personally think is going on in Wisconsin.

Welcome to WS whisky!

Don't get me wrong when it comes to LE & the job they do. That said the state of Wi has had many women found dead. Absolutely no suspects. They go into the Cold Case files. One for instance is Deidre Hall she was a recent one that comes to mind......

I sincerely hope they find the perp who murdered Kelly. But after reading about so many & no arrests made it makes you angry.

The difference, though, is Madison vs. Rapids police. I would venture that Madison police are more educated and more savvy plus more experienced with major crimes than Rapids.

Hopefully we will have some answers later about why certain info was not publicized until later, or how the cell records and pinging were used. Hopefully we will also be assured that Audrey Seiler did not cloud the investigation, nor did any police assumptions about girls who drink and walk home with guys. (In that regard as well - I think that Madison police are likely less judgemental than other towns...in fact I know a couple Madison cops who have married THOSE type of girls :)

Investigators late Tuesday identified the body found Monday in oregon as Kelly Nolan.

A team of experts on the scene Tuesday, including a forensic entomologist helped determine a timeline of the death by studying insects around the body.

A forensic dentist and an anthropologist also helped I-D the body as Kelly Nolan. The Coroner will not yet release a cause of death until more tests are completed.

A team of police officers searched a grassy area on their hands and knees near where the body was found for any evidence.

Yes Madison has LE that is more experienced then Rapids.......I sincerely hope they get the guy who did this to Kelly.

I know they have to with hold info & expect that. Its all for the investigation & they don't need to feed the public all the info they have compiled.

Yes and did you see this: "Paras has said the employee's intention was to get Nolan to her downtown apartment, but the restaurant worker deferred to another man, who claimed to be Nolan's friend."

It sounds as if kelly was so drunk she was unable to say whether the guy was a friend or not.

My heart goes out to Kelly, her family, and her friends. One stage of their nightmare has ended and now another has begun. I only hope they will find some peace and comfort in this horrible tragedy through the strength of each other. Bless their hearts. I am so sorry it had to end this way for this girl. She had already been through so much. : (
