This is one I know about......
Wis is very slow & very far behind on there Crime back log. A lady who lived 2 mi from me was killed Aug 20,2006 her body has NOT yet been released to her family.

You can read about it at: JusticeForSue.com
Trial was delayed & its just been horrible for the family. Sue's brother is Patrick Weiland who is a producer of Dateline. He & his family have been fighting to get laws changed. They recently hired more help........but that won't help Kelly Nolan's family yet.
I hope I got the link correctly!

Ah OK...so they are horribly backlogged. I will read up on Sue's case. What a terrible thing after almost a year! If they cannot handle their case load, they should definitely hire more people! That is a travesty!

Yes her murder was horrible...... case loads are awful / no help. Since Wis don't have any welfare at all you'd think they could afford to hire some help at all levels in the state to get deadbeats & have competent LE.

Wow -- It seems incomprehensible that this can happen in this country. My heart goes out to her family that has not yet been able to lay her to rest in a years time -- incredible.

It really is bad........her family is very nice. They are totally beside themselves. The trial begins Sept 4th hopefully she can be laid to rest. You'd think we lived in a third world country instead of the USA.

Pretty difficult to digest, isn't it? We have come so far with forensics that we have created a literal crash in the system. The science is exceptional, but without the manpower to implement it...it is basically useless for years! Maybe the answer should be for the FBI to have a large forensic ME team set up to come in and help the smaller agencies catch up to a more manageable load.

I contacted WKOW TV in regards to media coverage on all the women disapearing in Wi. Deidre Harm, Kelly Nolan & 2 more vanishes. That even Greta on Fox News is suggesting a serial killer in Wi...
That LE isn't doing there job & the media needs to do their job in reporting such!

Al Zobel emailed me back & stated: As soon as there is even a shred of evidence a serial killer is loose they will report that.

  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

They are terrible! :waitasec: Ours news organizations would be LOOKING for evidence they are related or re-running the stories to jog memories, at the very least. Good try, Cheko! :woohoo:

She had recently spent 14 days in jail so I am guessing with her serving time she wouldn't have to do the other things. I could be wrong, but I haven't heard of anything else that was required of her.

she would have to do whatever WI requirements are. 14 days was just part of a punishment.

  • #691
Yes, but have you found in any article that she was required to do anything else? I could be wrong, but they have not mentioned it.

The judge normally requires a person to complete different steps in a DUI case. DUI school, drug & alcohol evaluation etc etc in each county its normally different. Wish I could be of more help.

That should be listed in court records. Hmmm...

  • #694
If you look under her court records here is what it says.

I think that is a wonderful idea and bears repeating.

In our county it is a 'rare' thing to get jail time unless its a 2nd or 3 offense. Never would someone get 20 days in jail / or 7 days for 1st offense. Nor do they give Community service......I've also never heard of anyone having to give a victim impact statement. As I said each county is different.

So she wasn't required to attend AA, but a Victim Impact Panel. Interesting. Thanks, Cheko. It needed to be clarified because of a possible connection to Tate.

I wonder what she did for community service or if she had completed this part yet.

According to the court records this was her second DUI.
The other one was in August of 2004.

Thanks for clarifying 2nd DUI.
I am not the pro here.....Ang where are you?

Depending on circumstances surrounding the
arrest a person could get jail time. The judges
seem to be stricter.

7 days jail could be served on weekends 'if' someone
couldn't afford the more expensive fine. The judge relies
on the Alcohol Assessment Program in determining
the fit punishment.

I have heard of people being made to attend AA by
a judge & not be around any type of alcohol consumption.
This is mostly done for 3rd offenses.

These are not Wi guidelines these are from people I have heard of in our area / mostly from the newspaper reports! Not factual!!!!!

It is all good info tho. : )

Yes, it was her 2nd offense. (It reminds me of a certain couple of celebs I wish understood the term "role model".)
