SOMERS — The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department has not identified a body found in the Pike River Friday.

People walking along the river found the body in the river near the 600 block of 12th Avenue Friday afternoon

A man who spoke to the people who found the body told the Kenosha News it appeared to be a middle-aged man, saying the body was frozen into the ice and partially covered with snow.

An autopsy has not yet been conducted, and the identity of the person is not yet known, a representative of the Sheriff’s Department said Sunday, saying the investigation is still underway.
An autopsy is expected to be conducted early this week.

Deceased has been identified.

The man whose body was found in the Pike River last week was identified as Russell B. Margraf, a 52-year-old Kenosha resident.

Margraf’s body was found frozen in the Pike River on Dec. 29. His body was spotted by people walking in the area.

According to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, Margraf lived in the area. The cause of death is still under investigation, but his death is not considered “suspicious in nature.”

Sgt. Mark Malecki said Margraf had not been reported missing. He said the Kenosha County Medical Examiner’s office was able to identify him by his fingerprints.
