Batavia police were searching for a 49-year-old woman who disappeared from Batavia Thursday and may have met with foul play, investigators said Saturday.

They're also searching for a man believed to be responsible for her disappearance.

Police realized the woman, Linda Duchaine, was missing after they found her daughter with a fractured skull in her Batavia apartment.

Batavia police said they found Linda Duchaine's apparently blood-stained minivan on the east side of Aurora late Sunday, the most promising and perhaps ominous lead of the investigation into the 49-year-old Wisconsin woman's presumed kidnapping.

I don't wish to have a "blame the victim" mentality, and I sincerely hope that Duchaine will be found alive and unharmed, but what was this woman thinking, living with this man and subjecting her daughters to this? I believe the article goes on to say the daughter suffered a fractured skull. Women can really be naive at times.

"Duchaine, of Niagara, Wis., has been missing since Friday when police believe Joseph Foreman, a fugitive in at least two states, assaulted Duchaine's daughter, Lisa Payne, during an argument at her Batavia apartment.

Police say Foreman lived at the apartment with Payne and her 12-year-old daughter. A 9-year-old niece also was there at the time of the fight."

Duchaine's daughter was living with the man. I agree with what you are saying though Trino. Just wanted to clarify that Duchaine was in town visiting from Wisconsin.

Lately Wisconsin certainly isn't the place to be, is it? A missing man, Audrey S., the missing LaCrosse woman, and now this criminal!

The search for the fugitive wanted in connection with the attack of a Batavia woman and the presumed kidnapping of her mother ended Wednesday with his apprehension, several law enforcement sources said.

And NBC5 reported today that Batavia police found the body of Linda Duchaine, 49, of Wisconsin in an abandoned farmhouse near Interstate 88 in southwestern Kane County. Authorities say an autopsy is pending to determine her cause of death.

From 2006:

http://articles.chicagotribune.com/...20312_1_ex-wife-autopsy-results-life-sentence

A life sentence for Joseph Foreman Jr., who pleaded guilty to the 2004 murder of his former mother-in-law and the attempted murder of his ex-wife, lasted a mere nine months.

Joseph Foreman, 39, formerly of Batavia, was pronounced dead at 2:45 a.m. Sunday in the health-care unit of Menard Correctional Center...

Autopsy results from the Randolph County coroner were not yet available. Foreman had been diagnosed with cancer while at the Kane County Jail awaiting trial.
