His first wife, Elizabeth, nee Ziefle, died young (after a short illness), age 28, Jan 8, 1955. They were married in 1946. He was married to Millie King, 11 June 1957. They were only married a little over a year.

Great find, I wonder how his first relationship went and why Mildred got divorced from him so quickly.

Mildred E Mangles was born May 15, 1918. She
married Robert H King in 1937. He was killed in an accident in March 1956. So Mildred and Norman both lost spouses a couple of years before his suicide and her disappearance. I haven’t been able to find a photo of her though.

I wonder why it seems they didn’t search the house. After the husband killed himself I could argue she might be hurt or in danger. And what did the kids think?

And what happened to them? It looks like the stillers had two daughters, and there were kids from previous marriages.

I can answer part of this. Stiller’s children ended up with one of his sisters, Josephine. The kings I cannot say except that the oldest two daughters were adults, the oldest married too. It’s possible she took in her siblings. But I don’t have proof. Some are deceased, but I think some of the kids may be alive. There’s nothing about what they thought or even if they wondered later on.

I know it looks like her husband killed her. But there’s a weird little fact that gives me a gut feeling otherwise. Right after his first wife died, he had an event and ended up in the hospital himself. Big leap here maybe suicide attempt. Now that second wife divorces him, he goes through with it. I don’t know if he killed her or not, but it’s possible her kids might know.

Updated today, but we can't see with what. No exclusions. The only thing that might be different is they changed her nickname from Millie King to Mildred King

Millie was allegedly last seen at home on the day her divorce was finalized, yet wasn't reported missing for about a week. She was to allegedly meet a friend that evening, but no mention of who the friend was or whether they were questioned. I sincerely hope they were-- it could've been another man she was seeing and possibly planning to go away with after the divorce. jmo

I tend to agree. He married Mildred very soon after the death of his first wife. I'm thinking Mildred was unhappy in the marriage and found someone else, and Norman couldn't handle the rejection/loss of another wife. jmo

Mildred and Robert King had 5 daughters and one son. All are verified on public record as deceased except one daughter, who was age 87 in 2024 still living in Florida. I found no obit on her.

Mildred and Norman Stiller had 3 daughters at the time of his death, though they might have been from his marriage to Elizabeth Ziefle as Mildred and Norman Stiller were only married for a year before Midred disappeared. One has to wonder why an estranged husband would be at his ex-wife's residence the day of the divorce, he's the last one to see her and then commits suicide.
