Shortly after his arrest Friday, Matthew R. Balzrina said he beat, stabbed and strangled Sarah G. Dobbs after a demon told him she "was bogus" for wanting to break up with one of Balzrina's friends.

As Dobbs' family members wept in the gallery, LeGrand reviewed how Balzrina suddenly attacked Dobbs during an early morning visit to her home on the 1400 block of South Fourth Street. LeGrand noted the horror he felt when reading how Balzrina repeatedly stabbed Dobbs until the knife handle broke off, leaving the exposed blade in her body. And how Dobbs pulled the knife out and tried to defend herself.
