KSTP in Minneapolis had the verdict on TV..... they report everything about the case. Should they have info on him / trust me it will be on the News. Mn is very lax on there domestic abuse laws. Which is so sad. I live about 10 mi from Mn border. They had a article in the paper where he was allowed to reaise chickens in St Paul. Can you imagine if anyone else tried to do that?
Exactly....the average citizen was more outraged with Vang's sense of self-entitlement and being above the law than his race. I don't know whether to be amused or disgusted when his wife called 911 all those times when he pushed her around, slammed her into a wall and waved a gun in her face. She certainly liked U.S. laws then. When he was found guilty she spit on our judicial system and whined loud and clear how unfair it is.

The only people who cried race was him & his family. They pulled the race card since this began. That was because Vang wanted that for his defense & hoped the hmong community would scream loud enough for him to get off.

Can you imagine the tizzy fit they'll throw at his sentencing?

Most Hmong know that Vang's actions were criminal but understand the anger or fear he was feeling during the confrontation in November.

Hmong are disheartened that many whites refuse to acknowledge that race played a role in the murders. Not a single Hmong person I know believes the surviving hunters' claims that no racial epithets were used.

I don't believe Vang felt fear last November. I thinking he was pretty damn pi$$ed off.

  • #164
Many peope feel fear but they don't go around shooting people.
Wonder what Vang thinks his victims thought before they were murdered????

I'm with you I don't buy Vang was in fear.......
Pi$$ed off / YES / nobody was going to tell him
to get off their land. I think he was tired, short tempered
& mad as hell.

I've also never bought the disrespect line he used.
You need to give respect in order to get it........

It's thinking like this that scares me:

Language is also a part of the equation. Let's not make the mistake of thinking that just because someone speaks English that he or she understands all the minute implications involved in that language.

Language barriers aren't solved by simply making English the official language. All languages, no matter how primitive the society may seem to us, have innumerable nuances in meaning.

No one can be expected to know them all. Even after more than 20 years of living somewhere. Like Vang. Like me.

Too many are still trying to find excuses of Vang's actions - he was not responsible for what he did. He lived in this country for over 20 years, he worked as a driver for a trucking company out of St. Paul MN where he had to read maps, read road signs, take driving tests, load and unload, account for his inventory, check in with the customer, all in English. But now his defenders are saying it was a language barrier - I'm not buying that one for a second.

Somehow personal accountability became a bad thing.....

Very good points. Even if we give him the benefit of the doubt, I would think that regardless of any and all language differences, the act of someone running away from you is universal. I don't know how that can be perceived as threatening in any language.

 LANGUAGE BARRIER????

Give me a break..... if thats his new defense they better give it up. A cold blooded murderer / is a cold blooded murderer. Vang knew perfectly well what he was doing & thought he could get away with it & never be found out. He left them all for dead. Then he thought he'd get away with the perfect murder.

Maybe its time we not let foreigners into our country if they don't understand shooting people in the backs is wrong & we also have our rights. Now that article pizzed me off.........

He's been waiting to blow for long time:

Evaluation of Vang revealed history of anger

He often thought of suicide, homicide

The man convicted of killing six Wisconsin hunters last November had a history of suicidal and homicidal thoughts stretching back 20 years, and believes he hears the voice of an "evil shaman," according to a psychiatrist's report obtained Wednesday.

It cites two separate incidents in which Vang, 37, threatened to kill his spouse and one in which he attempted to commit suicide by running into traffic on I-94 in St. Paul, Minn. It quotes Vang reporting that during his work as a truck driver he considered using his rig to run motorists off the road who had insulted him for driving too slowly.

Sounds like he was a accident waiting to happen.......

People around Hayward heard Vang's lawyers are going to ask for a new trial. Now they state he was mentally incompetent.

I heard this too and we are just reeling - so, they do not like the verdict because Vang REFUSED to enter a plea of insanity, gambled and he lost so now he is in insane?

Can we all do this? Gee - I didn't know I owned my own home and had to pay a mortgage by the 15th of every month - nobody told me.....

  • #171
Word is now Vang had a chance to plead insane & never & his lawyers are SOL but his sentencing is coming soon. We'll have to see what his high priced lawyers do / honestly can't see a judge spending the states money after a verdict was reached.

2 wks ago there was a Hmong in a tree on the ATV trails near Birchwood........some people we know said Vang's lawyers posted him there to see how many people called him a gook. Now thats mentality for you!!!

No surprise here:

Vang sentenced to life without parole

Hayward - Chai Soua Vang was sentenced this afternoon to six consecutive life in prison terms, with no possibility of parole, for killing six hunters in Wisconsin's North Woods last year.

But he can't stop himself from twisting that knife to the victim's families:

In a rambling 15-minute statement to the court, Vang, 37, called it the happiest day of his life, and thanked the people of Wisconsin for taking care of him the rest of his life.

I don't think he realizes yet prison is not like jail.....

I have not a ounce of compassion for the looser since the beginning.
It said alot when he shot them in the back. Where I come from they call people like Vang yellow belly chicken chits!

My hopes are he starts shooting his mouth off in prison, for sure he'll get what he deserves.

Vang himself addressed the court; saying today was, "the happiest day of my life."

He thanked all those who supported him, who worked on his case and who observed his trial.

He thanked all those who supported him, who worked on his case and who observed his trial.

"My life is over" he said, but you all go on living and I hope you will learn from this tragedy he said. Learn to, "love one another, to treat each other with respect and learn how to be better with one another."

I pray for all the victims & there loved ones. I hope ALL the family members can somehow put there lives back together. What a horrible catastrophe to so many wonderful people.
Deer hunting is about to begin, there is no joy in hunters faces as they speak of hunting. A family / friends ritual has been shattered. There are thousands of victims to this horrendous killing spree.
Loren Hesebeck is a very nice guy he had a perfect shot at Vang & could not shoot him / even after Vang had shot all his friends / he shot at him knowing the bullet would miss. He says there is not a day of his life that he don't relive some portion of the murders.......you can see the pain & torment in his eyes whenever that day is mentioned! His once happy go lucky always smiling / always joking / personality is masked in pain.

Hopefully the state of Wis don't have to support Vang long making a comment such as he did.

Our tax dollars at work:

He said he understood the anger, frustration and pain expressed by the relatives of his victims.

But he did not apologize, and the father of seven said he was happy that the State of Wisconsin would house and feed him for the rest of his life, and that he no longer would be burdened by a mortgage or child support payments.

I'm sure all the honest and hard working citizens of Wisconsin are thrilled to support him....along with the same in Minnesota in supporting his extended family....
