WI - Six killed, 4 injured in Sikh temple shooting, Oak Creek, 5 Aug 2012

One relative has told news that there was a child's birthday party going on in the temple.

How sad. There was also a children's language class this morning. This is so very sad. I am standing with my laptop at my washing machine. Alll the heavy rain has messed with our drainage, so I have to stand here and make sure it does not *throw up* on the laundry room floor. I was so mad! But this really puts things in perspective.
I am sending up prayers for all involved.

10:25 a.m. unintelligle phone call reported shooting. Active shooter engaged by police, officer shot -- expected to survive, shooter shot, multiple shooters inside. No victim count, no shooter count.

This sounds chaotic and so scary. Multiple shooters? That's almost unheard of in these mass murders. WTH is going on?

News is speaking of "this gunman" and "he or she." Don't know if they know something we don't know or if they're just trying to find a way to refer to the perp(s) inside when they don't know anything about them.

(He didn't say "head guy" but I missed exactly what he called him. )

They are not giving out too much because they do not want to tip off any gunmen that might be inside.

The Sikhs are a very peaceful religion, IIRC. This might be a political thing more than a religious thing. It is weird that the 1st identified shooter is a white balding man. Why would an old white guy care about the Sikh community?

There are still hostages inside, but there isn't any info on what's happening in there right now. It's an ongoing crime/police situation.

Excellent Amaardep Kaleka interview on the live link - dad is the president at the gurdwara and was shot, mom got out. Mentions post 9/11 attacks on Sikhs - haters mistook them for Muslim terrorists, several killed in America. Detailed typical Sunday morning at gurdwara - said there would have been about 90-100 inside at the time of the attack.

True katydid, but there are crackpots in every religion. It could be a combination. Or maybe,just maybe, it is an ignorant group who thinks all people that wear turbans are responsible for 9/11:maddening:

The representative for the district said that 3 people were dead, but the news cautions that he's not to be considered as any kind of official source.

All three gunshot victims at hospital are male.

Tweeted info reported by news station -- mosque in Edgerton, WI, ( Yikes, near me!!!) is being guarded by police right now

I would be stunned if this were Sikh-on-Sikh violence. They're one of the most peaceful religions in the world.

Sikhs have been attacked before by folks who believe them to be Muslim (probably because they wear turbans.)

There is also a problem with Sikh sectarian violence.
