WI - Six killed, 4 injured in Sikh temple shooting, Oak Creek, 5 Aug 2012

One of the temple's committee members, Ven Boba Ri, said that based on communication with people inside the temple, the shooter was a white male in his 30s.

"We have no idea," he said of the motive. "It's pretty much a hate crime. It's not an insider."

According to Ri, the man started shooting after he walked up to a priest who was standing outside, and shot him.

Then he went inside and started shooting.

People inside the temple were using cell phones to call people outside, saying please send help, Ri said.

"It's sad, I don't know how to describe it," said Ri, who has been fielding calls all morning from around the world, including India.

"Sikhism is such a peaceful religion. We have suffered for generations, in India and even here."

"We're all the same. Everybody has the same blood," said temple member Jaswinder Schandock.

I would be stunned if this were Sikh-on-Sikh violence. They're one of the most peaceful religions in the world.

I agree. But apparently there is a rift between the Sikhs and the Hindus.

A "special guest from India" was said to have been in the gurdwara today, to address the congregation, according to several reports.

It's tending to look like there was one shooter (now dead) who shot four people. (That's my opinion, not any news or source.) Three people are in the hospital, which makes it sound like one victim may have died.

I'm just speculating here.


ETA -- More like one shooter (now dead) who KILLED SIX people -- and wounded at least 2 people.

Officer at shot at scene is in surgery, shot multiple times. Shooter is down at scene, presumed dead.

2 individuals -- officer and a civilian have been transported by ambulance.

Four deceased inside and 3 deceased outside (including shooter.)

The news I'm watching hasn't said that nor has the police spokesman.

One of the wounded victims was a cop, who shot and killed the gunman.

Some hostages ran to hide in a pantry and called everyone they knew to tell them not to come to the temple.

Yup. His ex-co-workers, who will say he just got fired and/or his landlord who will say he just got an eviction notice.
