I have not heard of any children shot yet. I hope there weren't any.

If report is accurate and the shooter is dead will we learn his motive? Sigh...

I'm getting to where I don't even care what a shooter's so-called motive was.

If it was a political or religious hate crime, I bet we will find that out.

But if he just snapped and went on a rampage, then we may never know.

Greenfield Police Chief Bradley Wentlandt said the officer who was shot was a 20-year veteran and "an extremely accomplished tactical officer." He was taken to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa where he was in surgery just before 2 p.m. (Journal Sentinel)
Hero.

I know. The "why" of it never lends itself to prevention or anything productive.

So at this point, officially confirmed : Shooter killed 6 people and wounded at least 2-3 people. (Report of hospitalized victims differ. Hospital says 3, police say 2.)

The families waiting outside still don't know how their loved ones inside are.

Interesting comments there. I did not even think about Reddit.
Sample comment at which I chuckled, probably inappropriately:
The trick is getting the nutters to skip the mass shootings and proceed directly to suicide.

there is some wisdom in that.

this jumped out at me:
Every time something like this happens (which unfortunately seems to have been fairly frequently the last few years), I automatically assume a camouflage-wearing, limbaugh-listening, militiaman, with a collection of guns and Ron Paul for President stickers is involed. But I always remind myself that reality does not fit a neat stereotype. The more this happens, the more I realize there are many types of "crazy" out there, and with prayers to the families of the victims being foremost, I wait with bated breath to learn what sort of crazy this guy is.

At the WISN news link, a reporter just interviewed a temple member who said the gunman was driven by someone else. He was dropped off in front of the temple and the other person drove away.

Perhaps just a rumor, but he was quoting another person who had been in the temple.

Interesting. WITI interviewed a guy earlier who said his friend told him that he drove up, saw the first people being shot in the parking lot and then drove away. Hope LE asks him who that friend is.

Thanks for starting the thread, wfgdot.

I'm about 45 minutes from Milwaukee and have been watching the news but they don't seem to be saying a lot. I knew I could come here for the best coverage. Thanks to everyone for keeping us updated! Once again, Websleuths is the place to be!
