I really wish this case got more coverage. I suspect the vast vast majority of people in the US could walk right by them and have no idea. Although I suppose the positive side of that is it alleviates any pressure he may be feeling to do something risky like an illegal border crossing.

In the new pictures she looks like she could pass as “his daughter” and that worries me. I hoped they would stand out more, so people would take a second look when spotting them

Maybe they could get into Mexico without passports. But I don't see any way they could get to South America without them. You wouldn't even be able to board the airplane without proper documentation, much less get through immigration.

Even traveling in Mexico beyond the border towns would be difficult. Mexico has internal checkpoints to cut down on the flow of guns and drugs. They would almost certainly be asked for their passports if they tried to go anywhere within the country.

I believe they went to Mexico during the first few days after them leaving. While LE was still searching locally.
They may have used their passports, the border patrols do not register them. I am always referring to Hannah Kobayashi who went to Mexico completely undetected.

If they are in Mexico, I am not too worried about her getting medical care, tbh. The bigger places have very decent gynecological hospitals and doctors. Many people speak English and there are plenty of American expats, so they wont even look special or suspicious to locals.

Perhaps the new photos are from the time they've been missing, LE catching up with their stops, learning more about where they're staying, how they're paying.

I wonder if this was long-planned, with prepaid credit cards. I'm shocked they haven't been located.

I've always said that she looked way older than 16, but she looks so young on the new picture. Poor girl, I hope someone sees them and recognizes them, she needs to be safe.

I would assume she can still be counted as a missing person until she’s either located or makes contact with police. Her parents have reported her missing so she’ll stay that way until she’s confirmed safe.

Is there any proof that either would have a passport? Previous vacations? Because there is quite a wait at times to get a passport and I don’t even have an updated passport. Did her family leave US for vacations in past for her to have one? Or is there any record she applied for one before leaving?

They will be found before she's 18 imo. It becomes much more difficult being a mom of 2, all before the age of 18, especially when the second child is a grown adult. Once it gets more difficult, he checks out if she's not doing everything for him like she did before child. Just like his last relationship. Thinking of Sofia today!

I am kind of worried, that the lack of news might be bad news. The longer the silence drags out, the more worried I am that Sophia is not alive and he's disposed of her and gone on a lam.

Then again, a dead body can draw more attention than being in a hideout. But I cannot imagine them staying still in one place and not being found - without outside help that is.
