53-year-old Stacy Shramek was last seen Thursday afternoon around 2 p.m. in Black River Falls. She was seen leaving a family residence on North Roosevelt Road traveling in a red and blue kayak on the river.

That same kayak was later found on the bank where Shramek left.

Her family told authorities she was not wearing the proper clothing for the cold temperatures.

Court records showed she filed for divorce November 1. The actual contents aren't available to the public but a response/counterclaim and order to show cause went out in the day or two prior to her going missing. Wisconsin Circuit Court Access

I wonder why she didn't. If you live in Wisconsin, you know it's going to be freezing cold in November, and especially wrap up even more warm if you're going kayaking.

By the way, is kayaking popular as a winter sport? I'd have thought the chances of waterways being . frozen would make it far from an ideal choice.

Yes, that is just one of my many questions. Why was she going kayaking anyway? Was it a last minute decision. Did she drive to her sister's home and then decided to go kayaking? Did she kayak over to her sister's home and was returning home via Black River. Her kayak was found north of her sister's home. I would be more interested in how far from her sister's home.

is kayaking just the way they get around in that area? (why yes, yes, I am picturing the canals of Amsterdam, I have no clue, seems possible) because otherwise, WHY

I don't know why, but I imagined Stacy got angry and took off in a kayak. Again, no idea why my brain went to that.

I had that feeling too, no basis for that I just feel like that's what happened.

no it is not typically a mode of travel here, even in warmer weather. But there are people who just like being on the water and do kayak until there's too much ice

Her Kayak was found north of her sister's house.

Does the river/waterway flow in that direction?

Because if not, the kayak may have been planted.....

Did anyone actually see Stacy launch the kayak?

The earlier link reposted here for those that missed it said she was seen by family leaving a family residence in a kayak and noted she wasn't dressed for the weather.
The residence/house is actually on the waterway?
Because otherwise how would you leave in a kayak, right?

I would like the answer to this question as well.
