*Competency Hearing (@ 8:30m CT) - WI - Au'Promis Lenore “Promise” Lathrop (8) found dead in home on Mar. 9, 2024 in Fulton Township. *Dayveon Daniel Lathrop (20/now 22) [brother] arrested (3/12/24), charged (3/15/24) & arraigned (6/3/24) with 1st degree intentional homicide & hiding a corpse. [originally had these charges, but no longer listed: child neglect causing death, bail jumping on possession of drug paraphernalia]. No plea entered (3/15/24); plead not guilty (6/3/24). Held without bond (3/15/24). Cash bond set at $1.5M (5/21/24). Rock County
Jury Selection was set to begin on 7/28/25 @ 8:30am. Trial was set to begin on 7/28/25. ALL were taken off court site on 6/6/25.
Found incompetent to stand trial on 7/15/25. Found incompetent to stand trial on 10/25/25.

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Rock County man accused of killing a child and hiding the corpse has been found competent to stand trial, online court records show.

Monday’s hearing marks the third competency hearing for Lathrop, who was found not competent to stand trial back in July. His first trial was canceled due to the order of the first competency hearing.

Lathrop’s jury trial is expected to begin on July 20, 2026.

Wisconsin Circuit Court records show Dayveon D. Lathrop had a competency hearing Monday morning, where it was determined he can go to trial.
