With pot legal, police worry about road safety

The only thing they have to worry about with stoned drivers is a whole bunch of people waiting for stop signs to turn green.

Are there really a lot of people who don't use it ONLY because it's illegal? It seems like most of the people I know who want to use it, do; then again, I haven't really discussed it with everybody I know, so maybe I'm wrong about that. :waitasec:

If they legalized medical marijuana here, I'd probably be able to get a prescription for it easily enough, but I wouldn't. I tried it a couple of times when I was in my teens and all it did is put me to sleep; I seem to be fighting to stay awake most of the time now so that's the last thing I need.

I live in a state where marijuana has been decriminalised for decades.

People drive stoned all the time, in fact there's a half joke that the state's economy would collapse if the pot industry suddenly died...it's probably got an element of truth. We are the only state with such reforms so tend to supply the nation.

Based on this, the states road toll should be sky high, as at least 50% of the driving population would test positive, at any one time. After 8pm, probably 70% of the drivers have had a smoke.

Our road toll continues to be high due to one drug only - alcohol.

No emergency surgeon ever lost a patient who was driving stoned.

They now do saliva swabs for drug driving and I have yet to hear of a marijuana only conviction.

Having said that, we've still got a long way to go before we reach the stage that Colorado just did. It's still technically illegal.

:dunno:

Considering chronic pot smokers lose ambition I project the unemployment rate skyrockets in states with legal marijuana usage.

Consider all the life long daily pot smokers you know and ask yourself to rate their level of ambition, lol. Trust me on this one.

Cubby, my ex husband. He's educated and has a fabulous career.

However, he's moody as all h*ll when he's not smoking. He's smoked since he was a kid. Of course it's different for everyone. Thanks to him I am no fan of the weed. Oh and he's a rotten driver high or not. Only he's nicer driving after he'd been smoking.

That would be me. It makes me sleepy, although I haven't tried it in years. Maybe it wouldn't so much now. As for driving, dear God,I'd be halfway across country before I realized I went too far!

I find it amazing that the same country that has no problem with the dispensing of all kinds of prescription pills is so uptight about pot.I'd much rather see someone smoke some weed than pop a pill. As with anything, moderation is the key.you will have some who overuse, but most people are using it recreationally. The biggest problem I see is the munchies. My sister smoked before Thanksgiving dinner and she ate like it was her last meal ever!! I've never seen a mean pot smoker but have seen plenty of mean drunks.
pot would be legal the day before yesterday if selling it was the exclusive province of Big Pharma

and they would gladly foot the bill to develop accurate testing for legal levels while driving

this is one of those scenarios which demonstrates that enormous money-making entities, whether corporate or private, have the means to decide who their competitors are

solar energy would be da kine if they could sell it to you
