Back in 1999 or 2000, I worked out of an office in Annapolis, MD. One day I was standing in one of our larger (multi-cubicle) rooms talking to a co-worker when a wolf came charging into the room. Talk about surprise! It wasn't a wild wolf, it was someones pet that had escaped the fence around its yard. Someone at our office had (against policy) propped open the back door, and it just walked in. It was a juvenile, not full-grown, but it was still the biggest canine I'd ever seen....just huge....and not well trained. It was very friendly but kept jumping up on people like an untrained, excited dog will do. One young woman who worked there managed to corral the thing in her office, and started calling around, and looking on line, to figure out who owned the wolf. After a few hours she succeeded in finding the owner, who came by to pick the animal up.
This was the only time I've ever actually touched a wolf, and I was truly surprised by its size. Its paws were larger than my hand....which measures 9 inches, outstretched.
