Toronto landlord never suspected accused serial killer was violent

At the end of an alleged three-day rampage earlier this month, Sabrine Kauldhar was suddenly the most notorious woman in Canada.

“Very nice person. Very quiet,” Thanh Vo told CBC. “She didn’t talk to people. She paid the rent on time.”
For two years before the murders, Kauldhar had been renting a basement room in a Junction-area home. Vo never saw any hint of a violent or aggressive side to the daughter of dentists.

'A Toronto court has ruled that a woman accused of killing three people in three Ontario cities last year is unfit to stand trial at this time and must undergo psychiatric treatment.'

'Defence lawyers had initially asked for the assessment, but withdrew their application saying Kauldhar had instructed them to oppose it.'

It’s clear she understands this much – a mental hospital is certainly much nicer that jail.

Kauldhar begged the Crown psychiatrist to send her back for treatment rather than returning her to prison where she claimed she’s not safe.

Often standing to pace in the small prisoner’s box, Kauldhar wore a lime green sweatshirt and black head scarf as lawyers and a judge in the downtown mental health court discussed her future on Friday.''
