Woman finds bobcat in her basement

I wonder if the opening in the window could be made smaller so the pet cats can still come and go, but nothing else can get in???? I think I would be worried about my cats going outside if there are indeed wild bobcats in the area. My two cats are inside cats - they're scaredycats too.
