Why is she not charged with rape? If this was the other way around a man would be.

Why doesn’t it say how old he is? She was 12 when their relationship began. What legal trouble is he worried about?
Maybe he is younger than she is. I think it's common to leave out victim's names if they're under 18. Even in the arrest record he is referred to only by initials.

edit: I looked at the wrong report. My mistake.

Well I would assume he didnt write the article so it wasnt up to him to tell his age and also him being the victim is probably why they dont say much to identify him.

She should be in jail. Strangulation is attempted murder.

Mears was charged with strangulation in an incident involving the same victim in April 2018, according to the Great Falls Tribune. Mears was accused in that case of grabbing the victim’s hair and hitting him in the face. He told police he was able to get Mears off of him, “but was hesitant about physically protecting himself, as he thought he would get into legal trouble if he did,” the Tribune reports. He told police the argument continued and Mears began strangling him by pressing her thumbs on his windpipes.

She is wakadoodle. Sorry this happened to him. Relieved she didn't kill him. Sounds like she needs to be locked up--- anywhere.

I think a lot of men are afraid too defend themselves against women, especially those who are particularly diminutive. They feel they will be deemed the aggressor because of their size and gender alone. I can't really blame them, actually...sadly.

I agree. He’d already called LE on her in April for strangling him. I think the legal trouble he was talking about is domestic violence. He probably thought he’d be arrested if he got physical with her, and she’s obviously a liar.

I know. But I don't know about the laws in Montana - I know in some states it's out of the victim's hands and the charges are filed by the state. Which is a good thing because victims sometimes decline to press charges.

Woman accused of threatening ex-boyfriend with machete charged

In April, Mears was charged with felony strangulation of a partner after another argument escalated at the victim's home. In that case, according to court documents, Mears had grabbed his hair and hit him in the face. The man was able to get the Mears off him, "but was hesitant about physically protecting himself, as he thought he would get into legal trouble if he did."

bbm I had to laugh about this sentence - "get the Mears off him" as if she's some kind of substance or maybe an animal. :D

Yea she's friggin nuts it seems. Scorned? Did she get a restraining order after the April incident?

If he was able to get an erection during all this, he's a better man than I. This almost seems staged to see if it can go viral or something. And it probably will. Next thing you know it will be on Good Morning America.

I hope so.

I know in some states on a DV call LE issues an emergency restraining order on the spot.

I think she needed a psyche evaluation before they released her on bond.

I do think a no contact order was issued. Im my experience those or a restraining order often do no good.
