The one comment on the 🤬🤬🤬 page sums it all up:

"The train wreck that keeps on givin!"

I just caught that this is posted in "News that makes you smile!" I guess it was because it started out as a happy story of two women and their dogs being rescued... now it just makes me smile & howl with laughter. ;)

Too funny. I couldn't agree more. It goes along with that daffy picture Jennifer posted of herself...

Sounds like she used poor judgement and made bad choices - possibly due to brain injury.

Is she charged with a crime?

I don’t understand why people kick someone when they’re down.

It's more than that in my opinion. I don't believe a large percentage of her story. She was looking for a payday IMO

I think everyone would be very sympathetic if her story was true... but blatant lies + media hound + gogivememoney = bad intentions.

I've not read about a possible brain injury... link?

A much younger ex-boyfriend said ... Appel .... [fell] off a motorbike in her early twenties in a crash that broke nearly every bone in her body and [it] 'affected the judgment part of her brain'.

She may have a brain injury but she is canny enough to come up with a fake story, diss others, and now try to grift money.

What got me: Her story about the crew of Taiwanese ship that was trying to rescue them. At first she said they were kind and generous. Then she changed the story, and said they were trying to kill her and Tanya. Of course, Taiwan is a bit angry over this.

I just realized that, too, yesterday. Gotta admit, so much of this makes you go, "whaaaat?!" (and the thread commentary in response has brought a smile or two). :)

But lest anyone in here think we are poking fun at someone at their sad expense, I think it also needs to be said--grifting is not a casual, victimless crime. If this was a hoax (and IMO it has every sign of being just that), then needless time, tax dollars, and heartfelt human effort not without risk was involved in their 'rescue.' With nothing, apparently, to show for it other than a brief media circus, a 🤬🤬🤬 account with $5 in it, and some very maligned Taiwanese sailors. Even if a strongly suspected hoax, this would likely not be enough to make anyone spend one more iota of time or money to investigate or press charges. But it's still wrong behavior, still an injustice, and it should stop. IMHO. If the behavior is driven by mental health issues (neurological or emotional), those should be acknowledged and addressed...otherwise, how will things change or life improve for her? JMO, but I would show my concern in that case by encouraging her to seek help, not by 'kindly' tolerating or discounting egregious behavior.

Disclaimer: it's surely obvious, but conning people, lying to people, changing stories on a whim, and trying to take advantage of people's trust and good nature for personal gain does not sit well with me. We had an irresponsible grifter with AKAs in our own family history who caused grievous, lasting harm and alienation while conning family and many other people whose lives intersected over the decades. So it may be that this is why I find this sort of behavior particularly irritating (and certainly not victimless).

Jen just won't stop, her comments to people questioning her on the 🤬🤬🤬 page are hilarious.

Yup, 🤬🤬🤬 still at $5.

Priceless (and now deleted). Five shares to Fbk yesterday; over 700 Fbk shares this morning. She's going to earn that $5 with all the deleting.

Someone offered her the full $50,000 if she'd take a lie detector test.

lol.

Thank you! I missed that entirely.

Does explain a lot.

ETA - Still absolutely NO justification for a gogivememoney to *nudge* the media. That's ridiculous.

I listed to this podcast and it's two hours and 20 minutes of my life that I wish I had back. No really new information or insights from the women, and the host didn't ask some of the real obvious, salient questions.
