There is an obvious reason why "child-bearing years" are during one's youth. To undue that natural law is very wrong, IMO. It's done only the thought only of what the mother or father wants, not what is good for the child or what the child might want or need.
And when this monumental selfishness is celebrated--- UGH!! Just a couple of years ago, a contemporary of mine, namely Curtis Sliwa's unmarried sister, pushing 60 and suddenly wanting a baby, had herself inseminated and gave birth to TWINS! A little boy and girl condemned to an old mother and no father. And this occasion was splashed across the local papers as something great. Peh!!
If these selfish people really wanted to become parents, there are many older children who have no parents, no home who are dying for a family. I see them every week in a feature on local news called "Wednesday's child." Each week one of these wonderful children is spotlighted. They are all lovely children and all of them need a mother and/or father.
I wish I could afford to adopt a couple of these kids, wish I had a place large enough. But sadly I do not.
