I've been thinking about Gore and his admission with his regard to the #2 ex-mrs. jonah shacknai....not being seen in, at or around Rady during the time she professes to be.

"We don't have her (Dina Shacknai) on surveillance tape," Gore confirmed. "Her position was determined thorough GPS triangulation on her cell phone, which put her in the vicinity of Rady Children's Hospital."

So did the 'investigators' use the simple GPS location, pinging off a tower? Where precisely was the phone?

I would expect a detailed method of the triangulation used, to be the investigative files.

Thoughts anyone???

Colgate is JS's Alma Mater. COVE (Center for Outreach, Volunteerism, and Education) is an awesome program and with JS's fairly new endowment it has provided a means to 'spread out' the outreach and volunteerism. All in Maxie's name. I'm not sure if the new endowment began in '12 or '13 and renamed for Maxie then. Another wonderful and heartfelt gesture from JS in honor of Maxie.

It's campus...simply put, is gorgeous...during all 4 seasons.

Dorms. Not so much lol.

@ screecher - it appears the "investigators" did indeed get a record of where Dina's cell phone was during the time in question. Not a record of where Dina was, of course, but her cell phone. Like so many other assumptions all those many, many "investigators" made in this case to arrive at a ruling of suicide (due either to incompetence or for nefarious reasons), the cell phone's location was good enough for them. No need to investigate further.

I've learned from this case that no matter what, if you're going to meet with a bad end in Coronado or San Diego, make sure to be killed by someone with no money, influence, or connections. This case stinks to high heaven. I've been following it since Rebecca's body was left exposed in the courtyard for an entire day while 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 and helicopters took photos.

Despicable and IMO, criminal behavior on the part of many people involved in this travesty.

I've never understood this at all. They found her phone. That's it.

They didn't back this up with anything even saying she was actively texting/calling/using data during the time frame in question.

Certainly she must have been in contact with her sister who was making the hike over to the ocean Avenue property with her pretty little purse. NR has placed her self there and IIRC was there at DS' request. So wasn't DS anxiously texting and calling her sister during this time frame to find out if NS talked to RZ??

Do the printed from the Internet and mis-time stamped records that NR provided to the news show this? Did SDSO actually see her phone records or just the printed out ones that we've all seen?

ALWAYS MOO

Sheriff's Capt. Tim Curran said that Shacknai's brother, Adam, made an emergency call Wednesday morning saying he had found Nalepa hanging by her neck from a balcony. When police arrived, her nude body was found in the courtyard, her hands and feet bound.

Curran said that Adam Shacknai told police that he had cut down Nalepa's body in apparent hopes she was still alive.

He said that Adam Shacknai is considered a witness, not a suspect or even a "person of interest."

^^^The thing is, is if you believe as I do that the Rebecca Zahau death "investigators" (one and all), for reasons of either incompetence or something nefarious, deliberately avoided testing evidence and otherwise deliberately avoided anything and everything of an investigative nature that didn't fit their conclusion of suicide, then virtually nothing they've said about the case can be trusted.

The traffic cop will have to present his theory:

Nos. 16-18 and 21 ask what Doug believes happened on the evening of Rebecca's death and what facts support his opinion.

The questions, as posed, do not ask about any communications Doug had with plaintiffs' counsel.

As the questions do not call for privileged information they must be answered.

And what would their motivation be for that? Dina, Nina and Adam really don't have money to buy off the entire investigative team etc..that would be a lot of folks involved in a cover up. What does one say? Oh hey LE please rule this a suicide because I killed them and I don't want to get caught?

^^ HAHA Burke. Is this a joke? What relevance does the brother-in-law who was NOT in California during the time of the murder have in the WDS against Dina?

Also what is with your obsessive need to emphasize that he is a "traffic" cop? How did you find out this irrelevant info and what's your motive to highlight this extraneous trivia each and every time you post about him?

Not to mention Mary's full, full name, that the Zahaus are Christian or any of the other minutiae that is nonsensical. The defense has evolved into a bunch of c$&p IMO. But why do I keep reading it is my own problem. On one hand I believe there is an overriding reason we are seeing this and it may become apparent in the near future.

Holy Jeepers Creepers. [emoji79]

Hoping there are meds and alcohol at hand when it is learned the trial will indeed take place. [emoji81]

<modsnip>

But, there is not going to be a trial. Judge Bacall has already WARNED the Zahaus that they needed EVIDENCE for the case to go forward. They have come up with NONE.

<modsnip> The investigation involved FOUR agencies. The SDSO, CPO, DOJ/FBI, and the Border Patrol. The investigation was through, and the case was solved with FORENSIC SCIENCE. They ruled it s SUICIDE because that is what it WAS.

He is called a traffic cop, because that is what he IS. He is not a detective. He is a traffic cop. That is not irrelevant.

Pretty telling what Jonah thinks of Rebecca now. He could have started a nice foundation in her memory. He did not. He thinks she hurt Max, too.

BBM - Could you provide a link supporting Jonah believes Rebecca hurt Max? Jonah fought Dina in a WDS she brought against him. A case that has since been dismissed wherein Dina was handed several sanctions. TIA

As well, have you found a link or an actual motion to support the post Adam Shacknai has filed a motion for summary judgment? (3rd request) TIA

Big case gives Lawton experience

Lawton said Republic is a safe place. But if the sleepy town ever wakes up to a gruesome whodunit, Lawton has some relevant experience.

Five years ago, a high-profile death captured the attention of the national media, and Lawton was one of the people leading the investigation.

Media outlets descended on Coronado in 2011 to cover the bizarre death of Rebecca Zahau, who was found naked, hanging from a balcony, with her wrists and ankles bound.

Zahau's death came two days after a young boy in her care fell from a staircase balcony and died.

Some family members speculated that Zahau's death was a revenge murder, but Lawton — and other investigators on the case — eventually determined the death was a suicide.

There is still some ongoing civil litigation connected to the case.

"The best determination, with all of the evidence that we had, is that it was not a murder, as many people wanted it to be," Lawton said. "I stand by that position today. I know there are a lot of different opinions about it, but I stand by that position."

Lawton said working that case was good from an experience standpoint, and it makes him more prepared for the challenging cases he might see in southwest Missouri.

"I'm not looking for a case like that here in Republic," Lawton said. "I think I have had my fill of a national case. I want to use that experience to better myself for the smaller, local cases here."

Lawton said he still gets questions about the Zahau case, and it came up when he interviewed for the Republic job.

"I can't forget it, because everybody else remembers it," Lawton said. "It's really a sad case."

New Chief of Republic, Missouri, Mike Lawton also said Max's death was "a tragic accident". Because I'm unsure what happened to Max, I cannot support his "best determination" of what happened to Rebecca either.

Coronado Police Cmdr. Mike Lawton said investigators found no sign of foul play and believe Max's death was "a tragic accident." He added that Shacknai was at the hospital with his son when Zahau died.
