Wrongful Death Suit filed Nov. 13, 2013 in California, #4

I agree completely with this, Imp. Playing up "sympathy" is a double edged sword for Dina, IMO. The more she accentuates her grief, and compulsion to blame Rebecca and her sister, with her idea that they are responsible for Max's accident, the more she appears to be a hateful, vindictive ex-wife bent on obsessive revenge.

And the easier it becomes to understand the motive for murder that the Zahau lawsuit has alleged.

I think the defendants will spend the next year or so trying to figure out how to settle this thing to avoid testifying in open court. It will be a heavily publicized trial, IMO.

I certainly hope so! It would be about time the public learned the truth about these events.

BBM. Does anyone besides me feel the Zahaus have no interest in settling for a $ amount and going away quietly? Seems to me Rebecca's family's hope is to disprove the notion that she committed suicide, while simultaneously receiving an admission of guilt from the perpetrator(s).

I've never thought they were in this for money, or a quiet off-the-record financial settlement. They want the suicide ruling reversed (at least in the court of public opinion, if not the official record), and they want the person or persons who murdered her brought to justice, hopefully right alongside Gore and all the other LE agencies who "investigated" Rebecca's death.

I am in complete agreement Imp. I think the financial aspect is irrelevant to them but with the refusal of the authorities to actually examine the case they have no choice but to look for justice in the civil court. I hope there is a resolution soon, the family deserves nothing less.

This is interesting. The page view stats of Rebecca's wikipedia page-- the same page that editors will not permit any documentation of the ongoing WDS. Note the huge spike in page views yesterday. Nearly a 5-fold increase in page views!

https://tools.wmflabs.org/pageviews...ccess&agent=user&pages=Death_of_Rebecca_Zahau

This is the last 90 days. Note the other recent spike in views on 2/19/16-- the day of Greer's news interview.

https://tools.wmflabs.org/pageviews...ccess&agent=user&pages=Death_of_Rebecca_Zahau

Thank you for sharing this K_Z. I didn't know that info was available for Wikipedia.

I think this is one of those rare cases where people will refuse to forget. The gross mishandling of the case and the conclusions that were made by LE that totally defy common sense, have contributed to making this a death that is destined to continue to be questioned and simply begs for re-examination.

Imo, all of the US, Europe and Asia saw, followed and have an educated, fact based belief Rebecca Zahau was murdered.

I agree. I believe that most of the people who have no stake in the case and do not know any of the participants (and therefore are truly unbiased) would agree that there were obvious irregularities and many, many unanswered questions. I also think that anyone who looks as the tangible evidence - Autopsy Report and Police Reports, available photos, statements to the police etc. can only come to the conclusion that Rebecca was murdered. However, there will always be people that believe she committed suicide UNTIL the day that all the facts are presented and examined and the parties questioned under oath, that's what I meant about the public learning the truth.

Nuts. It won't let me read.

Lash, hi:) What is the point of appealing the dismissed federal lawsuit that was against her? I'm not understanding what she has to gain by doing so.
In my opinion, you make a really good point and I agree that it is possible that there was a cover up that began with Maxie's accident.

Hi Jessica

You caught the point...Why would Dina appeal the dismissal of a federal WDS brought against her? My personal opinion, an attempt to exhaust the Zahau's financially.

The link is working for me...sorry...try searching Dina Shacknai. If you can filter your search by the last 24 hours, your search should return this article first.

Lots of misinformation and skewed prejudicial junk written about Rebecca and her family. We know it's Dina who promulgated the errors and that the first commenter is obviously Dina herself disguised in fake profile as someone else. Surprised she didn't use the "Chung" name in order to make fun of Asians as she did on other comments under recent news articles about the Zahau trial proceeding.

You can tell this article is skewed from the title wherein the TRIAL is downplayed with the lame title "Lawsuit is allowed to continue". Hmm, a TRIAL to determine guilt of Dina, Nina, etc. has been set for the wrongful death suit of Rebecca Zahau! Not just "continued lawsuit"! Right from the very start of the article wherein Rebecca's gruesome murder is downplayed by statements in passive tense like just some random woman died, the authorities ruled it suicide, but still this family blames Dina, etc. Talk about revolting BIAS writing! Definitely unprofessional journalism.

Article starts with "But that wasn't enough to satisfy Zahau's family, " to minimize the Zahau family's concern over a mishandling of the investigation wherein Rebecca was heinously tortured and brutally murdered like a lynching. What a joke this article is. This is supposed to be objective journalism?

Errors in article:
1. "alleging they killed the woman as retribution for the death of a child family member who died in the same house just a few days earlier." Wrong. Max the child family member (why not simply say the one and only son of Dina Shacknai, one of the defendants named in the WDS that is going forward to trial next March 2017?) did not perish several days before Rebecca was Murdered. He was hanging by a thread and was taken off artificial respirator on Saturday, several days AFTER Rebecca was found murdered on Wednesday morning.

2. "Zahau was found by her boyfriend, former Medicis Pharmaceuticals CEO and Paradise Valley resident Jonah Shacknai, with her hands tied behind her back and her ankles tied together, hanging from a balcony inside the mansion with a noose around her neck, according to court documents." Wrong. Jonah Shacknai did NOT find Rebecca's hanging body. It was his brother Adam. If this is what this writer found in "court documents", wow, either he lacks reading comprehension skills or someone in the courts messed up and typed the wrong name into the reports. I am certain it is the former. Purposeful misreading of court documents by inept author of AZcentral article.

3. "Zahau or an unnamed individual was responsible for his death, according to the Zahau family's attorney, Keith Greer."She dated your ex-spouse and murdered your only child," Greer said in a phone interview. "That seems like motive to me.""
Wow. I'd heard all of Greer's interviews and have never once heard him speak those ugly ridiculous words that Rebecca "murdered" and was "responsible" for Max's injury, and that she "dated your ex-spouse"? (SO transparently clear that this is Dina providing all the misinformation to Jerod MacDonald-Evoy, the inept writer who doesn't check facts and writes in a biased prejudiced manner. Yes DINA, Jonah was YOUR ex-spouse, and yes, Dina, Rebecca dated YOUR ex-spouse.) No way Greer would have made those absurd statements. First of all, he was not present at the mansion when Max's accident happen and he represents Rebecca's family. Those are not words used by an educated, articulate lawyer such as Greer, but they certainly are the shameful exaggerations of a spiteful, bitter, vengeful, murderer Dina.

4. "The trial is set for Jan. 14." Even the trial date this writer couldn't get right. The trial is scheduled for next MARCH 2017, not January 2017.

If she was murdered, why all the drama associated with the death scene? Hung from balcony naked, hands and feet bound, writing on the door. There's much more efficient ways of killing someone without all the extra aspects associated with this scene.

Are we thinking she was killed with an attempt to make it look like a suicide or just killed and left hanging with ligatures without an attempt to make it look like a suicide?

If it's the former, the ligatures point away from suicide because who goes through the trouble of tying their own hands and feet before hanging themselves. very few I would think.

The cryptic note on the door, hanging nude from the balcony, the ligatures, the shirt around the head area, btw imo, it's there to give the impression that you wouldn't have heard any screams because they would have been muffled, all this along with the lack of evidence to the contrary points to a suicide staged to look like a homicide.

This kabuki trick fooled many people but not the ones who count, Law enforcement.

I'm willing to be wrong.

Holy cow, there are a lot of errors in the AZ Central article-- they don't even have the trial date correct, and they went to extreme lengths to AVOID naming the 3 defendants!

And they grievously misquoted Greer-- yikes!! Hopefully, Greer gets wind of this today, and his firm contacts the news media and reporter to get THAT fixed. There was no "ruling" of any sort!

Max was Dina Shacknai's son, and she funded an independent investigation into Max's death. That investigation ruled that either

Zahau or an unnamed individual was responsible for his death, according to the Zahau family's attorney, Keith Greer.

"She dated your ex-spouse and murdered your only child," Greer said in a phone interview. "That seems like motive to me."

Bourne - :goodpost:

Almost 5 years later, nothing surprises me anymore! How is it the only coverage thus far in Arizona concerning the recent ruling is seemingly bias with a misrepresentation of facts? Jonah and Dina Shacknai's home state, and only this piece of hodgepodge? One word can explain it all: influence. Of course, just my opinion.

Yes this article reeks of 'reputation management' NOT true journalism.

Here's a link to the granddaddy of the art of reputation management - Sitrick & Co.

http://business.financialpost.com/n...-you-call-when-your-reputation-is-on-the-line

And here's my favorite quote from the article:

'Michael Sitrick is OK with the title of spinmeister. That is what he does, after all — though he sees it a bit differently than most people.

“You can give me a set of facts and I can write you four stories from the most negative to the most positive without changing a single fact,” says Mr. Sitrick, whose gravelly voice and jocular manner belie a reputation for bulldog tenacity.

“What I do is I use the facts to portray my client in a way that accurately reflects the situation but of course is the most favourable to my clients.”

Spin, he says, is just interpreting the facts in a certain way.'

And, BTW, this is the firm that Jonah Shacknai put into place right after Rebecca's death.

As I had said up thread, I knew darned well this would be the interpretation in Arizona news.

Thank you, San Diego, for not bowing down to the formerly 'important' Shacknais, et al. San Diego journalism is professional and fact-based. Arizona journalism - at least so far - is apparently still finding this family to be prominent and worthy of error and prejudice in reporting. What a joke - in private circles you wouldn't believe how they (the family) are portrayed. I guess the press needs to update with public sentiment.

IMO pure rage led to the associated drama of the murder method and scene by the defendants. Rage that couldn't be controlled and probably fueled over many years and many alcoholic drinks and drugs.
