Not sure I totally follow this point RC (sorry): You're saying that because he wasn't 100% sure what NC was wearing when she left to go jogging, that it's unreasonable to think he could have noticed [ or been told] that they were out of some detergent (detergent that NC just used the last of)? Is that it... or am I missing your thought here?

You didn't miss the point. Nancy didn't tell him anything about detergent - she was dead and dumped by that time IMO.

I want to know if LE:

- found an empty laundry detergent bottle or box in the trash or recycling

- Checked the lint traps and garbage for discarded lint from the dryer. There should have been several lint globs (yes that would be a technical term ) from that day since it appeared there was a marathon of laundry happening that morning.

- verified what was being washed that morning (and by who). It takes time to run a load and then wait for a load to dry. There are only so many loads one can do in a 1 hr timeframe.

- was there folded laundry not yet put away? Any laundry left in the dryer? Any wet laundry left in the washer? Any laundry baskets around the laundry room?

Yeah - great questions SG!
Too bad the SW's only show the "inventory" results from the search... and not a list of "keen observations". That would be helpful [at least to us 'armchair detectives'... :) ]

I thought her friends said that she always had it with her. Am I wrong?

Oh - I fully expect that she DID take it with her whenever she left the house - but according to Brad she left it home that morning. (Yeah, right )

But - anyone that knows phones and phone systems and was trying to cover his tracks would sure as heck make sure that the call originated from the land line and not the cell.

And one last thing - if Brad answered his cell phone and it was a fax machine - BOTH phone bills / records would show the calls. The phone company doesn't keep track of if one fax machine was calling another fax machine and was the mating successful - only that someone dialed and soneone "picked up".

This is where it breaks down a bit for me (and we've discussed it before I think...), but anyone who knows phones and phone systems and was trying to cover his/her tracks would know that any such records (land-line or mobile) would not prove anything, so they likely wouldn't waste the time with it.

It's my take on it (and yes, I know the some feel that murderers don't always think things through rationally so it's not valid logic)... but it sticks with me. If BC was smart enough to orchestrate the phone call via land-line, and fax machine, etc... he would also be smart enough to know that it would prove nothing, and be a waste of time. Conclusion: If the phone records do show a phone call was made to BC's mobile at the time he states... BC himself probably had nothing to do with making it (just MHO here...)

Note: when K&B say "he didn't go to the store until after 6:00 am" that is not the same thing as not going to ANY store. He could have gone to a different store; they are basically saying he didn't go to THE (HT) store before 6:00 am, if you want to get anal-retentive about it (and I think we do cause we seem to excel at that!). They may have intended to say he didn't go anywhere, to any store, at any time before 6am, but that's not what they wrote.

My question is did the detergent increase $2 in 2 months? I might have to have an inside source look this up for me....I really didn't want to involve them.

This will answer if the receipt is real...I'm really wondering if it is because of the customer name on it.

Yes, SG, they are great questions. I wonder if LE would know the answer. Would the garbage be gone two days later when they conducted the search?

To me it looks like the same sweatshirt only in the first pic it looks like he has nothing on under it and in the 2nd pic it looks like he has a shirt w/collar on under it.

And of course he is wearing different shoes in each of the visits.

I am unable to see if he is carrying a cell phone. I thought I could discern a wallet in one hand (in the video sequences), but I can't tell for sure. Maybe someone else will have better eyes for that (or better resolution).

Sleuthy,

If you look at the video, it looks like a cell phone to me. It is just a dark, seemingly rectangular object, which could be a lot of things. I think it is a cell phone, if you look in the 6:22 video, it places it on the check writing stand, and reaches into his right rear pocket for the wallet. It is not clear, but given that he goes through that series of movements, this fits best.

There is one closer to BC home than this one. I did at one time state the LE could have mentioned it to this HT or management spoke between the stores to know about it. All I know is by early Sunday afternoon it was known about his trips to a HT store.

I feel pretty sure the chief would have shot down the caller about 4am if there was NO truth in a trip.

I had it rung up and then taken off.

Okay but what about the RECEIPT? Did it print in a way that answered your question about the format of the receipts shown on the K&B site?

I don't think of it as a discrepancy, I take this statement to mean more that it was the child's routine behavior to not calm down after getting up until she had her milk, not that she was already up and NOT calm. It sounded like he knew they would be up soon, and that if there was no milk she would be upset and not calm down until she got it. Seems more like preventing a melt down by knowledge of past experiences.

I understand what you're saying but.....LOL.....if it was Katie's "typical" behavior to throw a hissy fit if she didn't have her milk immediately up on rising......why in the world would Nancy (or Brad for that matter) allow themselves to run out of milk???? See what I'm saying???? I just find it hard to believe that Nancy (even on a supposedly tight budget at the time) would allow the house to run completely out of staples such as..........milk, detergent, even the particular juice Bella apparently preferred in the mornings.

I can understand running out of milk or juice.....even detergent.....if you have older children at home you can reason with but.......not with very young children that could care less why you don't have what they want and are unable to be reasoned with well. Besides that....who in the heck wants to get out at the butt-crack of dawn to go to the store to purchase those necessities when they could have more easily/conveniently been purchased the day before

I see K & B did manage to tick off Chief Bazemore:

http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/3555616/

In a statement Tuesday afternoon, Bazemore said releasing details of an ongoing investigation could jeopardize the case – "something I'm sure no one wants to see happen," she said.
“Cary citizens know that if there is ever any chance that they are at risk, the Cary Police Department informs them and protects them," she said.

According to Mom, I think, garbage pickup is on Wednesday morning in that neighborhood? So 2 days later than Sat would have been Monday and the garbage should have still been on site.

May I recommend a group hug for detective J.A. Young (note: NOT wife killer Jason Young)? :grouphug:
