Locals aren't too happy at all with that press conference
https://www.facebook.com/LewisCountyTalk?sk=wall

ETA: They are saying they never even showed a picture of her??????

I can't blame them. The amount of info being released in this case is about useless (reminds me of the KM case in Ohio). Think I can drag out my old press pass and business cards and take them with me on the search this weekend?

We'll get a whole crew together for you.

Sometimes I think that we all here at WS would do a better job of letting the public know the information on missing children. There are some very talented and caring people here! I would love to jump on the next plane to help with the search for Aliayah.

Someone needs to let the station (and the town) know that a couple of hundred peeps worldwide are watching...(and waiting). Maybe that will light a fire, and more info. will become available.

O/T (PS - justbeachy, love your location...)

LOL! Thanks! Orlando used to be known as the "happiest place on earth" (disney slogan) and now we're stuck with Casey Anthony and the 12 clueless jurors. Yikes...that's like the evil version of "Snow White and the 7 dwarfs."

How many 3-yr. olds can survive over 72 hours ALONE???

A thought to ponder:

Folks (the general public) will come out in droves to search for an alive child - a deceased one - well... not so much.

Good reason for stating they think she could still be alive.
Besides, with no proof that she is deceased can you imagine the uproar if they said she was thought to be deceased and she was later found alive?

Me too. It's about 6 hours away for me but I really think I am going to make the drive this weekend if searchers are still needed. My youngest plays on Thursday but after that I am free because mom will be here to put them on/get them off the bus Friday and my husband can handle soccer practice on Saturday. <modsnip>

I really hope this search doesn't go until the weekend, since it's only Tuesday. That would make it a whole week, and every day makes it look less promising. :(

I don't know what to think on this one. A lot about this case and the reactions to it remind me of the first days of the Breeann Rodriguez search.

I hope it doesnt go on another minute. They need to find this baby! She is somewhere, 3yr olds do NOT vanish! Where are you Aliayah??

I know and I wish I could head there this very minute but I have 2 sick kids and one that has a soccer game on Thursday if he feels better by then so I am stuck here until Thursday evening at best.

Are they using the equipment TES has access to, to search the river?

I always check here first for news because you guys are always on top of it. I wish there were good news to be read. Aliayah is such a sweet looking little girl and she shares the name of my own daughter. My prayers are with her.
Sadly, I have little hope of her safe return. How many times have we seen these stories? I can think of only one (or two at best with an older child) in which the child actually did wander off. And that she was miraculously found safe. It just never seems to be the right odds of that happening. Still, I pray for Aliayah's safe return and that this was all a misunderstanding.

Le said there is specific data that makes them think she still could be alive. What data would they have.

also, I read (I think it was in one of these articles with WDTV that the g/mother lived with them as well as a bunch of children ( I've read 4 and 6 plus she's preg. with twins) and the stepdad. I wonder when the last time the g/mother saw her as well? Did I miss a very important article along the way?

according to nancy grace's show she was seen at a friends house Friday night and was brought home because she made a mess in her pants and wasn't feeling well

any suspects? not that we're willing to discuss

what can public do to help? public has been outstanding. no one will be turned away.

it's a collaborative effort. several agencies working together to the best of our ability.

BBM. I didn't see the presser, but did they say these exact words? As a WS I know what that means...

We have a suspect but we don't want to talk to you (the public) about it.

Oh boy!

MOO

IDK but after watching the presser I get the impression they believe foul play is involved. Why would the Sheriff(?) ask "all we ask if anyone has answers to please let us know so we can get this resolved then please let us know" unless they suspect foul play? Then add "the specifics of our investigation we are not going to put in a public forum right now" and regarding suspects "not that we are willing to discuss at this time". Doesn't sound to me that they are buying Mom's story.
