Hedgesville, W.Va., man missing since Monday

''Police are asking for the public's help in finding a Hedgesville, W.Va., man who has been missing since Monday.

Donna Barefoot reported her son, David Michael Barefoot, missing at about 7:30 p.m., according to a news release West Virginia State Police issued Thursday.

She said he had been missing after completing his shift with his employer in Hagerstown.

The woman said her son normally arrives home no later than 5 p.m. and that calls to his cellphone went to a voicemail.

She said she was concerned because her son recently underwent a medical procedure.

Donna Barefoot confirmed that David Barefoot had left work at about 3 p.m., the release states. She learned that he had used a credit card to buy fuel at the Sheetz store in Williamsport, but went missing shortly after leaving the store.

The David Barefoot drives a silver/gray 2012 Toyota Camry with West Virginia registration, 5HA775.

West Virginia troopers said they learned of a possible location where Barefoot might be in the Hagerstown area and passed that information along to authorities in Maryland. But a search of the area failed to find Barefoot or his vehicle.

On Tuesday, Cpl. P.L. North of West Virginia State Police took over the investigation, and units with the West Virginia State Police searched the routes Barefoot normally drives home.

At about 8:30 a.m. Thursday, deputies with the Washington County Sheriff's Office were sent to a site on McCoy's Ferry Road, which is near the Potomac River south of Interstate 70 near Big Pool, for a report of an abandoned vehicle.

Thursday afternoon, West Virginia State Police confirmed the vehicle was the Camry they had been seeking. But in an email, police said there were no further developments in the search.

Information about the missing man and his vehicle were entered into the National Crime Information Center, and searches have continued.

Anyone with knowledge of Barefoot's whereabouts is asked to contact the West Virginia State Police Martinsburg Detachment at 304-267-0002.''

Missing man might be endangered - Franklin County Freepress
''A missing man last seen in Maryland might be endangered, and his family is worried.

Friends and family of 30-year-old David Barefoot are asking for help in locating the Hedgesville, W.Va., man, who has been missing since Monday. They feel he might have suffered a medical emergency and his life may be in danger.''

''Barefoot works in Hagerstown and lives in Hedgesville, WV., is about 5’6″ with dark brown hair and glasses. He was wearing the teal hoodie and blue jeans at the time of his disappearance.

“We believe he had a medical emergency because he has a history of seizures,” said his friend, Adrienne Blice.

Last year he had an aneurysm and was missing for six hours before being found in his car.''

“We have searched throughout Maryland and West Virginia and have not found his vehicle,” she said. “We are growing more and more concerned that the window to help him if he did have an episode is closing fast. As each day passes, that is another day he is not taking his medication to control the seizures.”

''Anyone who might have seen Barefoot, his vehicle or have any information about his whereabouts can contact Adrienne Blice at (412) 515-6544. West Virginia State Police can be reached for information about the case at 304-267-0000.''

Blice said Barefoot does not have a girlfriend and none of his known associates have heard from him. He has no history of drug use.''

Sorry, my fault- should have added the (earlier) date on the second link, at that time the car had not yet been found.

What does it mean that he is vulnerable?

@dotr can the state be changed? It says VA but it’s WV.

David B does not have his medication with him which he needs to help control his seizures, last year he had an aneurysm and his family fears he has, or will suffer a medical episode.

West Virginia is WV, for some reason i did not realize it had its own abbreviation, thanks.
Just to add, he works in MD. He travels from home to work. It has been stated in MSM.

Wow. To have suffered an aneurysm, and still be alive is a miracle!
Also IMHO, if it were me and I had seizures, I would keep a pill or two in my car for emergencies.

I really am hoping he is found soon, unharmed!

This is so sad. I’ve traveled that area from WV into MD, but it’s been quite some time. It’s a very busy area. I’m from southern WV, so I’m not as familiar with that area. Purely speculation, but since he already had a prior aneurysm, it wouldn’t be a far stretch for him to be vulnerable to strokes. That could lead to many different symptoms. Wasn’t his car found near water? Perhaps he became very confused and fell in. Here’s an article via the Mayo Clinic that describes brain aneurysms. It’s got great info. I’m not certain if we can use a link from there, so I’ll report my post so mods can determine if it’s ok.

Brain aneurysm - Symptoms and causes

But... if he had a stroke, where is he? Would he just leave the car and walk away?

Please don't perceive this as insensitive, I'm truly concerned for his safe return. But if David had a history of aneurysms and his Mom says they can return any time. Why was he still driving?

Hoping LE finds answers soon, his family is beside themselves.

I’m pretty sure that he’s been found, but it’s not in MSM yet, so I’ll just say M00 for now.

Very sad to hear this. Prayers to his family. He seemed to suffer quite a bit with health issues. Heartbreaking.
