[h=1]Hunter finds human skeletal remains in Hurricane[/h]HURRICANE, W.Va. — A hunter found human skeletal remains Saturday afternoon near the intersection of W.Va. 34 and Tacketts Branch Road in Hurricane, West Virginia, Putnam County Sheriff Steve Deweese said.
The remains were found about 3 p.m. somewhere near a storage facility company.

A medical examiner had already left the scene as of Saturday evening, but deputies were processing evidence and expected to return Sunday, March 4.
The gender, age and other identifying characteristics of the remains were unknown as of press time Saturday, and deputies were unable to determine how or when the person died.

UPDATE: 3.3.2018 @ 7:45 P.M.
The Putnam County Sheriff's Department sent out the following release concerning the possible human remains found on Saturday.

On Saturday, March 3, 2018 at approximately 1500 hrs, a hunter discovered what appears to be Human Remains along State Route 34 near Tacketts Branch Road and Whirlwind Storage Units. Putnam County Sheriffs Department Crime Unit is still on scene processing the evidence. Unknown at this time sex, age and other identifying characteristics.

HURRICANE, WV (WOWK) - UPDATE: 3.5.2018 @ 2:59 P.M.

According to detectives with the Putnam County Sheriff's Department, skeletal remains found on Saturday have been transported to the Medical Examiner's Office in Charleston.
An autopsy is scheduled for either Monday, March 5 or Tuesday, March 6.
Detectives said a total of seven people are reported missing in the area. They are currently going through the processes of ruling out those missing people based on the condition of the remains and other factors.
