Details of Disappearance
DeMarino was last seen at Uncle Mike’s Bar on Seventh Street in Parkersburg, West Virginia shortly before midnight on January 30, 2019. He ordered a beer, drank half of it, then got up and walked away. An employee who saw him leave thought he was just going to the bathroom, but he never returned for the rest of his drink and has never been heard from again. He was carrying his wallet, car keys and iPhone X at the time of his disappearance.

He was driving his mother's car, a silver 2015 Ford Escape. Four days later, the vehicle was located unlocked and abandoned at Love's Truck Stop in Conneaut in northern Ohio, near the Pennsylvania border, a three-and-a-half-hour drive from Parkersburg. It was parked across two spaces, and inside it there was a phone charger, an empty bag of chips, and change in the cup, but no sign of DeMarino. The car had been there for three or four days by time it was reported.

DeMarino divorced five months before he was last seen, and was living with his mother. He left behind two children, one in college and the other in high school, and it's uncharacteristic of him to go very long without talking to them. He has no history of getting into trouble with the law and there's no indication he planned to walk out of his life. He had purchased tickets to an upcoming basketball game and planned to attend with his son.

Less than a year after his disappearance, DeMarino's mother died. The rest of his family still hopes for answers in his case. The circumstances of his disappearance are unclear.

I checked this site, hopeful John may have been found. Thankful the spelling of my hometown of CONNEAUT has been clarified, as I had a brain zap every time I saw it spelled Canneaut. I no longer live there, but the area where his car was found is a large truck stop, semi-rural, four lane highway off I-90 just before the state of PA begins. Conneaut (Ohio, not to be confused with Conneaut Lake, a town in PA) is the last exit. Nothing there at truck stop but Love's store with a Subway restaurant in it, gas station. All highway to walk north or south. Sad he left car and mother died, kids and ex wife have no idea what's become of him. There are occasional hitchhikers in the area or maybe he hitched a ride somewhere with a trucker, to start anew. I'm regularly sharing his poster in Conneaut groups and with those sites-maybe someone saw him. Maybe he is in the area, it wouldn't be hard to use another name, work under the table, be among the homeless or rent a room. Hope John will be found alive and well, at least contact his kids to let them know.

I don't believe John has been found. If I learn differently, I will update this site. I live in the NE Ohio area where his truck was found.

Follow the UID thread to know when the remains are identified. I also suggest if anyone feels strongly this could be John-- send the info to the WV police. I think the height might not be right to be John, but they didn't give a measured height yet-- just said the UID appeared to be "average height". MOO.
Are you referring to the John doe in this case? He's been identified.
