“It is our hope we will be able to locate him and get him home safely,” Sheriff Chad Barker said. “We are asking for the public’s help in locating him. Bias is an avid outdoorsman and covers a lot of ground in Southern West Virginia on a regular basis."

The Sheriff’s Office said Joshua Bias was last seen in Chapmanville but searched a rural area of Boone County Saturday.

Family members like DB, Bias’ cousin, said it means a lot to see so many volunteers come to help after he and other family members have been searching all week.

[...]

Sheriff Barker said Bias is thought to have been driving his parent’s red Toyota Tacoma Monday.

After investigating, the Sheriff’s Office narrowed the search to the Bandytown and Twilight area of Boone County after the vehicle was seen on 14 different cameras driving toward the area.

[...]

Additionally, Barker said they’ve contacted Toyota to try and locate the vehicle’s last known location.

“We’re doing everything in our power,” Barker said. “We’ve had a lot of assistance from the public and from other law enforcement agencies and emergency services and we greatly appreciate that.”

For many hours, family members, friends and volunteers conducted a search for Bias Saturday in a remote area of Boone County. Searchers used UTV’s and ATV’s while looking across rugged terrain.

[...]

“We want to continue to push the information out and get the word out, hopefully generating leads,” said Barker.

[...]

“Someone out there knows something, the truck is somewhere and he is somewhere so we want everyone to be on the lookout for that vehicle,” Barker said.

The Sheriff posted a statement in the search groups Facebook page yesterday saying “This afternoon, law enforcement and emergency services were able to locate Josh and the vehicle. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the outcome we had hoped and prayed for.”

[...]

The Sheriff went on to say in the post, “We ask that you respect the privacy of the family and you keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this time. The outpouring of love and support from the community has been overwhelming over the last week.”
