Police search for missing 3-year-old in wooded area of Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Police are searching a wooded area of Jackson County for a missing 3-year-old child.

According to the county's Emergency Services Director, the child wandered into the woods in the Kenna area.

West Virginia State Police, along with several volunteer fire departments, are also on foot combing the woods for any sign of the child.

If you have any information where this child might be you are asked to call 911.

Search continues for 3-year-old boy in Jackson County

KENNA, W.Va. — Authorities in Jackson County are looking for a three-year-old boy who went missing Monday night.

Police believe the boy wandered into wooded area at Bonny Knob Lane near Kenna at around 7:30 p.m. A number of resources are being used as part of the search.

The boy was last seen wearing a pair of lime green shorts and a blue shirt. He was playing with a dog. The dog has been located.

Update: Search underway for missing 3-year-old in wooded area of Jackson County, W.Va.

JACKSON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- UPDATE 5/15/18 @ 6:40 a.m.
A massive search is underway in Jackson County, W.Va. for a missing 3-year-old child.

Concern is growing as the hours go by. The little boy has been missing since 7:15 p.m. Monday.

The boy, whose name hasn't been released, wandered away from his home on Bonny Knob Lane in the Kenna area.

There are multiple law enforcement agencies and fire departments out searching for him.

Neighbors from around Jackson County have even volunteered their time to search.

Deputies say they have a helicopter in the air, as well as ATV's on the ground and K-9 units out looking.

The focus has been on the woods near his home.

Deputies say this little boy is three-years-old and about three-feet tall.

He's wearing bright-colored clothing that is lime green and blue.

Oh no, not again. My heart is breaking. :tears: He could have walked several miles by now. If they don't want volunteers in the official search area, please, please, please ask community volunteers to search further out than anyone expects. Jackson County Sheriff Tony Boggs joked Tuesday morning a three-year-old boy who had been found after he’d been missing for about 15 hours looked like he had a better night than the sheriff had.
