According to this US District Court government website for indictments for WV’s Southern District which includes Beckley County (& Raleigh Co) there is NO record of Mary Haley being indicted on 12/10: https://www.wvsd.uscourts.gov/externalcalendar/default.aspx# - unless I’m misreading something...

Based on the last article I cited, it stated Virginia instead of West Virginia...they may be the mix up (possibly??)

LATEST: Investigators say missing woman is wanted out of Virginia

New developments in the case of a missing woman in Raleigh County could indicate she had a reason to hide. Raleigh County Deputies confirmed Mary Cathleen Haley-Scott is not only missing, she is wanted.

“We have learned that she is under indictment and wanted by the Smyth County Sheriffs Department in Virginia for grand larceny,” said VanMeter. “She’s under indictment and wanted for criminal charges in Virginia, but we’re looking at it as a missing persons still.”

I can’t find the indictment on the web. Where is the link? I found indictments but I couldn’t find her name. Am I missing something? It is 12:03AM so it is possible that I am possibly missing something...

No need for apologies! I’d noticed when linking Missing Persons Cases, it mentioned both states as places she frequents....Beckley WV and Wythe Co Virginia.

Facebook messages viewed by Fox News allegedly showed that Haley had reached out to a fellow member of a domestic-violence support group, Krissy Musallam, on Friday at 2:28 p.m. and declared that she had been “beaten pretty bad” by her estranged husband a week earlier. She also sent two selfies showing her with black eyes.

Musallam then advised her to go to a domestic-violence shelter and on Friday, and Haley expressed frustration that officials were not taking her abuse allegations seriously. Musallam told Fox News she grew concerned when she did not hear any more from Haley and got no response to an earlier message on Saturday.

Maybe it's just me, but my very first thought when seeing the selfie with Mary's black eyes, is that is make-up under her eyes... I see no swelling or any other indication of injury. This is bizarre and convoluted, and I hope Mary is located soon ( and unharmed!)

In response, it seems like persons that have faked eye injury have focused on upper eyes area... While her pictured injury mimics open hand injury to face/orbital area.

Days before she disappeared, Haley-Scott’s husband was arrested in Wythe County Virginia on a domestic violence charge, and Haley-Scott reported the incident. However, a Raleigh County Sheriff said her husband, William Scott, was nothing but cooperative.

Through the investigation, deputies learned Haley-Scott is wanted out of Smyth County, Virginia.

It does look like makeup, however it did say they were a week old so swelling and other markers might be reduced. Interestingly that’s also the only picture I saw with her hair combed forward like that.

I am very conflicted about this case. Please don’t think I’m victim bashing. Just wondering what happened to her? Did she leave on her own? Was that her posing as someone else on the FB messages or was it really someone who meant/did her harm?
Either way she needs to be found. I’m just baffled. I didn’t think the black eyes looked like make up, btw. JMO

According to messages from Haley’s Facebook Messenger, a response came Saturday at 4:32 p.m., stating that “she is fine” and “she is unstable” and that she was “in bed asleep.”

“She was talking about going swimming, but she can’t swim, so I’m not sure,” the person writing from Haley’s account told Musallam, then proclaiming to be “Haley’s best friend, Steven Vaught.”

On Saturday evening, Musallam asked if she was still married, and the response came back that “she always will be now.” Around 8 p.m. that night, the rambling messages from her account insisted that “she fell in the lake” and that she “tried to kill her (sic) self.”

“Rural Retreat Lake,” the messages continued. “She fell in.... yes she killed herself. She can’t swim.”

Wait! What? This case is getting stranger!

What the heck? Obviously this person isn't her best friend but some sicko taking pleasure over torturing loved ones and friends with such a message. Any friend who was concerned about her being unstable would have gotten her help. I hope they get this jerk that wrote that.

On Sunday, Dec.15, the conversation with Musallam ended, she said, and there was no further response from the account. Musallam told Fox News she then reached out to another associate of Haley’s who also communicated with the missing woman’s Facebook Messenger on Saturday. The messages allegedly coming from her account included, “she’s at peace bro,” “she is where she needs to be,” and “she fell I didn’t kill her,” indicating that her “last words” were the name of her young daughter.

I am sure LE is tracking this person's ISP or phone, wherever that message came from. This makes me so angry. Who writes something like this on a missing person's messenger? They obviously are having fun playing a cat and mouse game- catch me if you can, type of thing.

You're right to ask questions, and the mysterious FB group on the subject has banned everyone who has asked very legitimate questions and even encouraged people in the group to attack reporters and news stations who reported on Mary's warrants.

Almost everyone involved in this case in media reports only knowns Mary via online contact.

Family members have been almost silent only saying that Mary "had problems" but they are worried about not hearing from her. Her sister had not spoken to her in years. The only people talking to the media are random online people who have never met Mary in real life, only via online contact.

The first ex-wife of the state trooper stated he was never abusive or violent but that Mary had stolen money from him. I don't know if the grand larceny warrant is because she's charged with stealing from the husband or if it involves the Kia car she was reportedly last driving. (Apparently the Kia was financed in some one else's name (not her husband, not hers.) but I don't know if a missing financed car would be reported as larceny or grand theft auto since she did have permission to drive it.) There is no information on why the grand larceny warrant was issued, only that it is active and issued around Dec. 7 or so.

It's all really really strange.
