Seems like they thought this was Cassie Sheetz - maybe she was ruled out?
The hunters found human remains in a remote part of the Monongahela National Forest in Pendleton County and led State Police to the site this week.

“Personal items located there along with the skeletal remains, based on my previous investigation, led me to believe these are possibly the remains of Cassie Renee Sheetz"

Teter indicated there were several items located at the scene which were very specific to the Sheetz case. The remains have been sent to the state Medical Examiner’s office in Charleston for an autopsy.

Nobody has been ruled out per NamUs so maybe there will need to be more forensic analysis needing to be done. I am sure there are a bunch of MP's that could potentially fit the profile of this UID.

Sasha Lee Naylor? She was last seen on Kates Drive in Albemarle and is believed to have been heading in the direction of West Virginia or Ohio.

I think these remains are most likely those of Cassie Sheetz.

It’s been a year since West Virginia State Police were led to remains they believed belonged to missing hiker Cassie Sheetz but her friends and family are still without any answers.

The remains were found deep in the Monongahela National Forest but a year later there has still been no DNA confirmation from the Office of The Chief Medical Examiner.

“There’s no closure, we still don’t know anything. So you go every day knowing your daughter is not there but not knowing anything else,” said Arlene Howard, Cassie’s mother.

The West Virginia State Trooper who is handling the Cassie Sheetz investigation said that it is not uncommon for the results of DNA tests to take this long and that the investigation can’t move forward until those test results come back.
