Sargeant James Haynes has living twin daughters who are not giving up the search for his remains:
“RALEIGH/WYOMING COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — It's a decades-old cold case getting new attention in Raleigh and Wyoming counties.
Dozens were out searching Bolt Mountain on Friday at the Raleigh-Wyoming line for any possible sign of remains for Sgt. James Lee Haynes, a man who went missing in the area in 1963.
As of Friday evening, the latest update from investigators was that one of the sites they searched did test positive for blood. The site was a former home of one of the people who was allegedly involved in Haynes' death. K9s on the scene indicated the presence of blood, and a test confirmed that it could possibly be blood on scene.
The search effort on Friday included his twin daughters, Brenda and Linda Haynes, who were only a year and a half old when their dad went missing.
“We’ve missed out," Brenda said. "He wasn’t there when we got married. He wasn’t there when we graduated. He wasn’t there for Father’s Day."
Sgt. Haynes, 32 at the time, was a soldier in the U.S. Army and was home from Germany in December 1963. He wanted to see his parents in Saulsville in Wyoming County, where he grew up, before he would be stationed at Fort Knox.
Because his van was still waiting to be shipped over from Europe, he hitchhiked from Baltimore to Raleigh County, but never made it to his parents' home and was never seen again.“

It is good to see that this 62-year-old case is being seriously investigated.
It would seem that the suspected blood evidence must have been inside a house or building to have been preserved for so long. Perhaps DNA testing will determine if it is blood of Sgt. Haynes. If that is the case, a search of the grounds near the house or building might reveal a grave site.
