I have high hopes right now. It looks very very good! Weather grounded air support though so we are waiting for sleds to get in and confirm

What did you hear?

That is exactly what I am thinking happened. Maybe went further into back country than intended and ran out of gas like the 5 posted above.

It's Christmas, great day for a reunion!

I hope so and I love your optimism! I am pretty local so would really love this miracle!!!

What did you hear?

They believe they have been found, alive. Yes I'm crying.

Reports direct from family/friends:

4 guys spotted matching the description of the missing riders. Appear to all be okay.

Helicopter dropped a care package, with a note telling them to stay there, keep their fire going and help is on the way.

Weather turned and the helicopter had to go back to Cheyenne so we have to wait for sleds to confirm.

SAR went out on sleds but the coordinates given by the helicopter were extremely steep. So they have headed back.

I can't copy the GPS coordinates on my phone but they said near Crater Lake too.

Unclear on whether the helicopter is back up or not.

Just my opinion:

It sounds like they know it's them (pretty distinct gear) but since they haven't made contact they can't confirm yet. It also sounds like they are in a very challenging spot. It's sounding like they may spend another night on the mountain because it's almost dark now.

Oh, wow! If true, this is indeed a Christmas miracle!

It's what I expected, they were well prepared for a few nights out there!

I was just surprised at the doom and gloom outlook from the family so I worried maybe I was missing something.

I just hope it's true they are okay, because SAR having that much difficulty reaching them makes me wonder if they made it there unscathed.

Miracle indeed! They have been out there for four days already? Wow.

The sleds also fit the description. These aren't factory sleds, they are unique. ONe is blue and yellow except for the seat. There is like a .01% chance it's anyone else. Man I hope the weather clears if they have to take them out by helicopter.

I can’t imagine it’s not them.

I lost my Dad on Christmas Day. I think I’ll try to make it a habit to hope and pray for miracles on Christmas Day from now on because it sure makes Christmas Day sweet once again!

Update 12/25, 4:30pm: Helicopter located 4 riders matching description. SAR and Snowcat are on the way in to the party. No further info has been confirmed.

Update 12/25, 1:30pm: Air search has resumed.

Update 12/25, 9am: Last nights air search was suspended quickly due to weather. Search and Rescue volunteers have gone out from both sides this morning. Military assistance has been requested. As soon as the ceiling is high enough, the plan is to launch air search again. If you are are planning to help search, please be sure to check in with the Sheriff on either side of the mountain to get the most accurate information.

The 4 riders from South Dakota (Miah, Zak, Cole and Jim) were not located today. Teams from both the Albany County and Carbon County sides spent all day searching. The men were last confirmed seen at the Quealy safety shelter around 1pm on Saturday. No additional information about their whereabouts has been confirmed.

All 4 are on 850 Skidoos and have been listed as moderate to good riders. 2 are in all black, one in black and red and one in orange and blue.

Search will resume tomorrow 12/25 on both sides of the mountain. If you are going up to help, please check in with the Sheriff/ SAR in the Greenrock area on the Albany County side or in the Ryan Park lot on the Carbon County side.

Reports on Facebook but can't find anything on the news, i have mutual friends on Facebook with the missing

The news hasn't exactly been on top of this so that doesn't surprise me.

I'm going to take family's word over media any day. Family believes it's them and they are okay.

SAR appears to be in for the night and meeting again at sunrise to go get them.

The lodge where the family is staying is comping all of their expenses and also sent their equipment out to assist.

Very good news indeed. Can't wait to have it confirmed tomorrow!

Colorado Snowmobilers

12/25/18 730 pm mtn time. Probably the last update tonight on the 4 sledders missing in the Snowy's, WY.

Like I said, 4 sledders and sleds found today by chopper today, they, and their sleds fit the description.

I want to stress we do not have confirmation from the sheriff or SAR, that these are the individuals we are looking for.

Un-officially it appears to be them.

They were dropped a care package.

They are in good health and have a fire.

SAR on the ground were very close to them, but terrain and darkness has forced them to wait till 630 am tomorrow.

Merry Christmas!

Hopefully it is them and they will be telling their grandchildren about the Christmas they missed.

If it isn't them then it's someone else who needs rescue. I promise sledders do not camp out and build fires. That's not a thing we do. Really. We are not quite that crazy.

Good news that they are possibly found. Paws crossed!

I'm thinking about how relieved these four men must be now, knowing that help is only hours away. It warms my heart.
