Found Safe WY - 4 snow mobile riders, Snowy Range Area, Albany County, 22 Dec 2018

My broadcastify scanner alerted me on 12/25 around 5:30pm that there were over 1000 listeners for Carbon County Wyoming. I tried to find out what was going on but couldn't find any news. I could hear them broadcasting from a helicopter. Glad to know from the comments here that they were looking for (and hopefully found) the 4 snowmobilers!

I'm thinking about how relieved these four men must be now, knowing that help is only hours away. It warms my heart.

Honestly that hadn't even occurred to me yet. I keep thinking about the Mom/wife and how relieved SHE must be! To know that your husband and 2 of your sons were out there would be horrible. Plus having younger kids to try and keep calm and having it all happen over Christmas. I guess I've dealt with disasters over holidays so I kept putting myself in her shoes.

Yes, the 4 guys must also be very relieved to know that their ordeal has an end in sight! I am very glad that when they come out family and friends are there to greet them! Best Christmas present EVER.

I seen that also but on Facebook someone asked for confirmation because most news sources are only stating about the sighting yesterday, but there has been no response on it yet

I believe that article is accurate. It's exactly what the family is reporting as well.

All 4 were waving at the helicopter when they were spotted. That is awesome and new information.

They have not been retrieved yet. There are 3 separate groups going in at 3 separate angles and they are close but not quite there yet. I do hope they get everyone back out before anymore bad weather hits.

It's possible they will have to walk out the last mile or so.

Albany Lodge is the place that is comping both families room (Jim's wife and daughters, Miah's wife and brother I believe) and board. They've drastically reduced the rates for other searchers.

They were also the last ones out searching after SAR turned back last night. They picked people up at the airport who flew in to search but couldn't rent a car. They guided people through who didn't know the area.

So if you are ever up that way, you know where to stay!

I've taken a guided ATV tour out of there with a bunch of girlfriends (which was GREAT) and have plans to actually take a guided snowmobile tour out of there this winter with my family. I'm happy to know they have been involved.

If all 4 were waving that is a good sign that no one is hurt. :)

We're not allowed to post scanner info, right?

We are sticking to family and searcher updates but they are pretty much just as fast in this situation. I have actually been extremely impressed with the accuracy as well. Considering the fluidity of the situation they've been amazingly good at not releasing anything until it's accurate!

I cannot wait to see the pictures of this and hear the story on it after they are out safely. I am so anxious to know how all 4 ended up in this situation!

12/25/18 1045 am Update on 4 sledders in the snowy's. Ground crew is very near, no confirmation of hands on...but they have assessed the situation. They will either be air lifted or will have to walk out to a better location to extract by ground. Air support is waiting on clearance to go....weather and authorization. Hang tight......

They are so close on foot but I don't think there's time to get them out that way today. I think they would need to pull them out with the helicopter that they are still waiting for approval on.

It sounds like they did have radios but they were just short range ones. Man technology has spoiled us I'd love a live feed right now!
