<modsnipped reddit information> So back to the obvious? OnStar. Maybe it doesn’t operate out there? Like cell phone signals? Anyone know if satellite tracking has dead areas?

Even the locals appear to think that the search has ended too soon, from what I read on the Sheriff's fb post. So, that should tell us something, also. The post by the drone pilot is very informative as to why searching via drone is not really a feasible option for them.
I know that once I put my bike in the back of the truck, got it tied down with bungee cords, wenches and rope (safe for travel), I was not going to take it out, until I reached my final destination. They are a lot heavier than everyone thinks. Especially, when you are trying to push it up a 2x4 into the back of a pickup. o_O Does anyone know what kind of motorcycle/dirt bike it was?

I can't imagine LE pulling out of the search as quickly as they did, if they didn't know a lot more than we know. It doesn't seem they would stop searching, if they thought she was somewhere injured or unsafe. I may be totally off, but I'm thinking LE knows where she is. I certainly hope this is the case. Jmo

you would think if she was on her way to meet p.o. and did not appear, there would be updated FTA charges by now.

if she did appear then they would have record of the last time she was seen.

most logical would say that she drove off the road, but i agree LE must have more info to pull out of the search so soon.

But why is Family, boyfriend, the entire public ready with search efforts, horses, water, other things but are being told by LE don’t search yourself. You could get lost. Even the gas station was making preparations. I would think LE would say SOMETHING.
I saw the map previously posted here. HUGE AREA and huge part of the area already grid searched. All the colored lines indicating areas searched.
I don’t have a clue why they called it off.
And none of WB or the rest of searchers etc don’t know either.
I’m inclined to repeat: abduction and truck being driven by perp is hundreds of miles away.
Why no OnStar? Do any of you know why it has not been or has it been turned on? At least find the truck!!!! bc she could be at the bottom of some gulley, slowly dying bc she cannot get herself out of the truck.
Horrible scenario.
Pray SOMETHING turns up to help find her ASAP.

I have not seen anything along these lines:
Long haul truckers are professional drivers. The VAST majority will get help or spread news I f they know there’s a problem. Has this gone out over their CB networks? Be on the look out for her with all descriptions?
APB to all LE in WY. Then LE spreads it to the trucking and motorists driving. It would be all over the place within hours.
Anyway. Just hoping they find her safe. Can’t think of anything else.

In Texas, we have what’s called an Amber Alert in memory of the little girl who lost her life to a monster. I lived in Arlington, Texas, the location of Amber’s abduction when it happened. We also have Silver Alerts.

Why don’t we have Adult Alerts? Stop wasting time thinking they aren’t missing and just don’t want to be found. Start with abduction theory. Immediately. Remember the “First 48” is critical.

Sorry. Frustration is evident with LE advising people to not help locate her. Started late. Stopped too soon. I’d go anyway. If you’re local, you know the area. And know to go searching in small groups for security reasons.

I’m done. Sorry.

I agree that it's a scary situation. I'd like to hear from LE, but we know a lot of times that doesn't happen. Again, I just don't see them ending the search if they don't have something that tells them she's not in danger. I do think the investigation could have moved in a different direction and LE is keeping that zipped. I just have to hope she's ok wherever she is. I wish we could at least hear that much.
As far as On Star, I have no idea why it's not activated, if indeed it's not. Maybe the truck has been found. How would we know with no updates?

Yes, it is possible. However, getting the warrant is difficult in a missing adult case. What can be done is for law enforcement to allege a crime has been committed - Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle - and work a warrant from that. Prosecutors don't have to follow through with an actual prosecution.

I just had a thought, wouldn't they be able to charge her with theft of a vehicle? Since she's in the BFs avalanche? Wouldn't that be enough for a warrant to find it with OnStar?

Basis of warrant has to be the truth. But imho there can be other ways. Think outside of the box.
OnStar contacts boyfriend. Is it ok if we activate for the search?
If he says no? HELLO?
If he says yes, just do it.
If it’s a privacy issue, her family could consent to activate the search via satellite. Problem is will OnStar accept family ok? Liability is potential problem to them. But by now, LE could have gotten the warrant or order to activate or whatever OnStar would respond to. They could have gotten the warrant first day within hours. It’s a sparsely populated county. They could get the judge out of bed if they needed to.
If they need payment, omg. Pay the fee! What better free publicity than we found her using our service!
Kkkk. I’ll stop.

SUPERB. Thankyou.
Again boyfriend would have to file offense report. Stickler is that it left with authorization. So that could be LE’s excuse for not seeking a warrant. I don’t know the courts up there....but with everyone pressing LE to find her, forget about your stupid procedures and past experiences. EVERYONE agrees she’s missing without a clue.

It’s like you test drive a car off of a car lot. Sales person let’s you drive it by yourself. If you don’t bring it back, heck yes LE would be all over it. Same here.

So, I’m with you that unauthorized vehicle warrant is GREAT idea.

I’m with those of us saying the thing is hinky.

Yes, I did do further research and found that you have to first have the service and cancel for them to continue to monitor the vehicle. Having said that, all the boyfriend needs to do is call OnStar and activate the service and they can immediately locate the missing truck. OnStar is a satellite service, not a cell phone type of service. They should be able to lock in on the vehicle as soon as they activate the service. IMO

We’ve been saying this for DAYS.

Absolutely, in my opinion. And then it’s easy to just not follow through with the charges.

Sure, her boyfriend authorized her to use it, but he certainly didn’t, from all we’ve heard, authorize her to take off in it for a week! And I’m sorry for saying this, but if she’s trapped off the road somewhere, time has almost run out.

Can we contact OnStar and find out how to do it?
Maybe OnStar doesn’t even know what’s going on despite posting to the opposite. “Nothing they can do”

I'm not LE but I don't think they could use that reason because her boyfriend apparently let her take the truck and was expecting her to come back (Or at least that is what he claims). Her boyfriend didn't file the missing report. If her boyfriend had called police from the start himself and said Aubree had stole his truck without his permission, then you might have a reason for a warrant. But her texts might show she had plans and that her taking the truck wasn't a surprise.

Hopefully LE has gotten her phone records by now. Perhaps her phone shows as having left the area completely? If that is the case then they might consider her voluntary missing now and that may be why the searches stopped. They don't always tell family when they get access to the phone records or what they show. A lot of times LE won't tell family anything at all in order to protect the case. I know it's frustrating. There have been cases where a missing person's cell phone left the area completely and the police ceased searches for that reason but they kept investigating quietly. Sometimes the person ends up being voluntarily gone and sometimes the phone has been removed to another location by a suspect/accomplice who wants it to look like she is voluntarily gone. The police may not be telling her family anything until they can sort out which scenario is happening.

MOO.

I’ve been researching OnStar. Makes for interesting reading.
Basic info: GM product. equipment. A box. Usually installed at factory. Then to use it, it’s a service, pay as you go, after some free time in the beginning.
You can stop the service by contacting them. Standard stop my service request.
However, according to my readings, it can still track you if needed and while service not active. 3 point ping like cell phones, I guess.
So....
Ready?
To truly disable it, you have to crawl into the vehicle, locate the box, wiring and all of that and PULL THE PLUGS. that kills the power to the equipment. And then you are really disconnected.
From what I understood, it’s over from that point. Only way to activate it is plugging all of it back together. Apparently it can be activated remotely but has to be physically connected in the back or trunk or wherever it is located to be able to activate it. No WiFi kind of thing from what I read. Has to be hardwired.
So. If truck cannot be activated, at some point it either was not installed correctly, at the factory, or left disconnected at the factory and needed dealer preparation/repair work to be correctly installed so that it works (either with paid subscription, free subscription or tracking in an emergency) or intentionally, physically disabled.

I could not find information on whether the factory would intentionally leave the equipment disconnected for whatever reason. Seems kind of stupid to leave it disconnected at the factory when it’s almost installed and just needs to be finished with a few wires or plugs.

How ‘bout them apples?

That is a very good question indeed! Has anyone checked the route she would have taken? Could she possibly have had a wreck somewhere off the roadway?
This is my first thought. She's off road.

This investigation is just making me mad because it seems like they’re not putting any effort into it because she’s been charged with a crime, so they don’t feel like she’s worthy of being found, or else they are assuming she ran away because she was in trouble. I hope that’s not the case.

Hoping for Aubree to be found safe soon!

Thank you for being an advocate for the missing. I'm with hall of you who feel as if she if off road and injured, or sadly, deceased. Let's hope she is found soon. Her family must be in terrible anguish; prayers to them.

There is a forest fire to the northwest of where they were camping. There are helicopters up so there is opportunity to potentially see the vehicle if she is off the road somewhere not too far from the camping area.
