Interesting that what is mentioned in the article is basically a summary of what so many people chimed in on here.

1. Poor clothing choices.
2. "Summit" fever
3. Date of climb, mid September when snow season is coming at that altitude. Although, any time of year it can snow there.
4. Lack of experience in climbing at that altitude and area.

As I said before, my kids have worked at both Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park. Every year, at the employee orientation they tell the employees to look around, because one of them will die by the end of the season if they don't follow simple one rule.

1. Never hike alone

That is the number one thing they tell everyone.
