They were trying to get her birth records but had run into restrictions in Wyoming's very antiquated closed-records laws. But there's been some rollout activity lately that seems to indicate they might have been able to get at least some information.

I wonder if her friend has a letter from her with a stamp on the envelope. They've been able to obtain DNA from licking a stamp.

To my knowledge, they haven’t made public any new developments, hopefully they manage to obtain DNA for Carlene!

I’ve always thought that LE should go to the place that Carlene’s friend feels spooked about.

I was just hoping investigators would explore other avenues of obtaining Carlene's DNA if finding her bio family turns out to be a dead-end. I know it's a long shot to hope maybe someone, like her friend or a cousin, had kept some of her belongings all this time, like a hairbrush or letter from her, but I feel it's worth exploring, if it hasn't been done already.
