Police Who Stopped Brian Laundrie and Gabby Petito Had Not Spoken to All Witnesses, But Said Stories Would ‘Probably’ Line Up
Police Who Stopped Brian Laundrie and Gabby Petito Had Not Spoken to All Witnesses, But Said Stories Would ‘Probably’ Line Up
Another strange turn in the Gabby Petito investigation: Authorities deny having a record of a second 911 call, though officers reference a second witness in body cam footage

......
It appears that the account of the 911 call obtained by Fox News was not reflected in the Moab City police report. The report identifies only reporting witness, referred to as “Christopher.” Officer Eric Pratt wrote in the report that he had spoken to Laundrie, Petito, and Christopher, and that “all three individuals gave a similar and consistent story, consisting of the basic idea that the driver of the van, a male, had some sort of argument with the female, Gabbie, as I recall. The male tried to create distance by telling Gabbie to go take a walk and calm down, she didn’t want to be separated from the male, and began slapping him. He grabbed her face and pushed her back as she press upon him and the van, he tried to lock her out and succeeded except for his driver’s door, she opened that and forced her way over him and into the vehicle before it drove off. No one reported that the male struck the female …”

Pratt’s account states that he first spoke to Christoper in person at the scene outside the grocery store; Christopher’s statement indicates that he approached the officer to share his concerns. Pratt later called Chris for further information while the officer was at the second scene with Petito and Laundrie.

The report and the body cam footage, cross-referenced, suggest that Pratt is the same officer seen speaking to Laundrie at around the 25:00 mark in the below video.

The footage also shows that Laundrie told officers he didn’t have a phone, as he was describing the initial episode with Petito outside the grocery store. It is unclear from Laundrie’s statement whether he meant he did not possess a phone or just that he rarely used it.

“I was holding on to the keys because I didn’t want her going anywhere. My big fear is … I didn’t have my phone, I don’t really … I don’t have a phone. So if she goes off without me, I’m on my own.”

Later, Petito and Laundrie are each seen with separate cell phones, and Laundrie also gives an officer his phone number. Additionally, Petito asks an officer to remind Laundrie to charge his phone and Laundrie tells the officers that he intended to send Petito a text message asking her not to contact him. At no time does the footage show officers ask for clarification about Laundrie’s earlier statement.

"Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue confirmed the remains are those of Gabrielle Venora Petito, date of birth March 19, 1999," the FBI Denver division said in a statement. "Coroner Blue's initial determination for the manner of death is homicide."

The official cause of death will remain pending until final autopsy results are in, according to the statement. Investigators are committed to making sure anyone involved in Petito's death "is held accountable for their actions," Michael Schneider, special agent in charge of the FBI's Denver office, said Tuesday.

"Mr. Brian Laundrie has been named a person of interest," Schneider said. "Anyone with information concerning Mr. Laundrie's role in this matter or his current whereabouts should contact the FBI."

Inside Brian Laundrie's bedroom as Gabby Petito's homicide confirmed
... The Post has acquired property documents that reveal a string of recent home sales by the Laundrie family, as well as photos that take us inside the residence he shares with his parents.

[...]

The Post has acquired photos inside the family’s three-bedroom, two-bathroom home in North Port, Florida, which was purchased by the Laundries in 2015 for $120,000. ...
[...]

One of the images from the 2017 real estate listing takes us inside Brian’s presumed bedroom. A disturbing poster of dark figures with hammers and spheres violently attacking other figures can be seen resting on the two-case bookshelf.

Other items observed in the room include what appears to be a gun propped up next to the shelves over his bed, a Darth Vader mask and a series of “Watchmen” books.

[...]

Social media sleuths claim Laundrie, apparently an avid reader, is also spotted engrossed in a book about women who go missing in a video uploaded to the couple’s YouTube channel. The “person of interest in the case” is briefly shown reading what appears to be Jeff VanderMeer’s “Annihilation,” a 2014 novel about four females who venture into the so-called Area X, where three of them die and the fourth disappears permanently.

[...]

But this isn’t the only home owned — or sold — by the Laundries recently.

Property records show they had also owned a Venice, Florida condo unit since 2015, which they bought for $99,500. They sold the property this summer for $144,000, after just two weeks on the market in July.

[...]

They also purchased another North Port home made up of two bedrooms and two bathrooms in January 2020, before the pandemic hit, for $128,000. They sold the home over a year later, on March 18, 2021, for $140,000.

[...]

The Laundries also had a home in Bayport, NY, at one point, which they purchased back in 2008 for $330,000, property records reveal. They sold it in 2017 for $385,000 — the same year they attempted to sell their current Florida home.

[...]

The van showed some of their belongings messily strewn throughout the back of the camper after they were stopped by police in Utah following a 911 report of a domestic incident.

[...]

“We drove by and the gentleman was slapping the girl,” the caller said, according to audio of the call that emerged Monday.

The dispatcher responded, “He was slapping her?”

“Yes, and then we stopped. They ran up and down the sidewalk, he proceeded to hit her, hopped in the car and they drove off,” the caller replied.

On Tuesday afternoon, police revealed they are “actively” investigating deer camera footage that captured a hiker resembling Brian trekking through the wilderness.

“I’m not saying this is the guy but whoever was on my trail camera this morning in Baker, [Florida] strongly fits the description of Brian Laundrie,” Bass wrote on Facebook. “Authorities have been contacted but people in the northwest Florida area be on the look out.”

A man named Sam Bass told investigators he spotted the man toting a backpack at 6:17 a.m. on Monday in the town of Baker, Florida — about 500 miles away from Laundrie’s home in North Port.

Brian Laundrie could face the death penalty if he winds up charged with murder in the death of Gabby Petito, experts say
[...]

The North Port, Florida Police Department has said the Petito case is now a criminal investigation, although they have not charged Laundrie with any crime.

If authorities were to locate Laundrie and charge him with Petito's murder, he could "potentially face the death penalty," said Alfredo Garcia, a professor at St. Thomas University College of Law and a former assistant state attorney in Florida.

About half of all US states have abolished the death penalty, but it remains legal in both Wyoming and Florida. Garcia said that for Laundrie to be hit with the death penalty, authorities must first determine where the crime was committed.

"If it occurred in Wyoming," for example, he said, "they would have jurisdiction" to go through with the death penalty there.

Search for Brian Laundrie continues at Carlton Reserve (abcactionnews.com)
Brian Kensel, a retired FBI special agent, told ABC Action News reporter Michael Paluska the terrain and environment in the preserve are some of the harshest and most challenging terrains in the country.

"It is an extremely difficult environment in which to find somebody even that wants to be found a lost hiker or someone who's injured," Kensel said. "It's hard enough to find somebody like that. So if you're trying to find someone who wants to hide and who does not want to be found, that complicates even more that makes the search just that much more difficult."

[...]

Helicopters and drones are equipped with the most advanced technology around, including forward-looking infrared (FLIR).

"Things like that looking for a heat signature don't work if it's not a live person if there's no source of heat. So that is an option, of course, that has to be considered."

There are also highly sensitive listening devices that law enforcement can use to pick up even the lowest audible sounds and movement. But that is assuming Laundrie is actually in the preserve and alive.

Will Gabby Petito’s fiancé Brian Laundrie go from person of interest to suspect?
[...]

8 On Your Side spoke at length with a former federal and state prosecutor who believes an arrest warrant is written and ready to go.

[...]

“I don’t think there’s any question that he’s no longer considered just a person of interest. I think there’s an arrest warrant. I think it’s sealed, but I think it’s out there,” Crawford told us.

The question is – did Gabby die in Wyoming or Utah?

Investigators say they’re looking at all evidence in this case and all angles, including the possibility that Gabby may have died in one place, while her body was discovered in another.

Brian Laundrie's neighbor reacts to Gabby Petito homicide confirmation | Fox News
[...]

"I’m really upset now because … [the Laundries] should have absolutely come forward now," Guthrie told Fox News Digital. "I mean, I just … can't believe they didn’t do something. I’m really angry now that they … let this go. And that everything was so natural and they remained so normal through the whole thing, you know, while they were here, till he went on the run."

[...]

"He mowed the lawn. Him and his mother went for a bicycle ride around the block," Guthrie said. "I mean, everything was just normal life once he came back. And I just can’t get over the fact that they — it seemed like nothing bothered him. How can you do that?"

Guthrie noted that while Laundrie has not been accused of any crime, the FBI's announcement that Petito died of homicide and Laundrie's disappearance in September look "really, really bad for him," adding that his parents should have spoken up.

Stones arranged in cross pattern found at campsite where authorities may have found Gabby Petito | Daily Mail Online
[...]

DailyMail.com exclusively found the location where Gabby’s transit van was filmed by a Youtuber on August 27th at the Spread Creek campsite. The remains were found about a quarter of a mile from where the van was photographed.

The location was found Monday just minutes after law enforcement left the campground around 5:40 p.m. and opened it back up to the public. The campground had been closed to the public since last Saturday.

A DailyMail reporter found a pink ribbon tied the bushes near where the van was parked on the side of the road.

Investigators left pink marker tape where the couple's van was seen in a YouTube video and more pink marker tape by the cross. There also were red markers in a large circle around the area where investigators had been working.

There were markings with orange paint on several rocks and trees surrounding the cross.

The orange paint on the dead trees was still wet. Near the makeshift cross, a pink ribbon was tied to a dead tree. That pink ribbon was the same type found where Gabby’s transit van was filmed by the YouTuber.

Autopsy confirms remains found in Wyoming are Gabby Petito's, FBI says - CNN

9/22/21

(CNN)Autopsy results have confirmed that the remains found Sunday in the Bridger-Teton National Forest are those of Gabby Petito, a 22-year-old woman who disappeared while on a trip exploring national parks with her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, according to the FBI in Denver.

The FBI tweeted that Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue ruled the manner of death a homicide in his preliminary findings.
"The cause of death remains pending final autopsy results," the FBI said.
"Anyone with information concerning Mr. Laundrie's role in this matter or his current whereabouts should contact the FBI," Special Agent in Charge Michael Schneider said.
The FBI in Denver said the agency would like information from anyone who may have had contact with Petito or Laundrie or who visited the Spread Creek Dispersed Camping Area between August 27-30 or may have seen their vehicle.
