One day after genetic genealogy finally identified I-90 Jane Doe (1992), her alleged murderer— suspected serial killer Clark Perry Baldwin—died in prison from a heart attack.
This is a good, although older, article about Baldwin. It says he purchased a DNA test kit which confirmed his paternity of a previously unknown daughter. I'm assuming he probably only put it on databases or a datbase LE can't use, as it was a relative's DNA that caught him. It shows he knew about DNA, to some extent, anyway..
