Identified! WY - Sweetwater, "Bitter Creek Betty", Wht/HispFem 24-32, 213UFWY, rose tatt/jewelry Mar'92 - Irene Vasquez

She has been marked "Identified" on Doe Network.

It says missing since 1956?? - so it can't be Baldwin he was only 5 years old then...

The one I have in my notes was found 1992 & ID'd July 2021 - but at the time no name was given. I do not think this is Ann Campbell - !!

Baldwin is in Tennessee standing trial for Pamela McCall's & her unborn child's murder.

per my notes:

WY – Bitter Creek Betty (~24-32) (found March 1, 1992, off the westbound lane of Interstate 80 (I80), along the bottom of a slope, at the rest area known as “Bitter Creek”, 40 miles east of Rock Springs, WY. Sweetwater County; ID’d in July of 2021 no name as of 12/11/21). - *Clark Perry Baldwin (31 @ time of crime/59/now 61) arrested & charged (5/6/20) with 1 count of 1st degree murder.
Warrant has not been served yet. Will proceed after Tennessee charges are resolved.
Bitter Creek Betty has been identified as Ann Campbell missing since 1956??

It's rather unusual to withhold the name of a murder victim, isn't it? I'm sure there is a good reason behind it though, I'm just happy she's no longer nameless!

Not really IMO. It's not unheard of that John/Jane Doe names are withheld based on what I've seen in other cases. The family wanting privacy or LE withholding the name so to not jeopardize the investigation could be the reason why.

her name was released on facebook a while ago, but I wont post the name here.

Not sure if the inits are S C but if they are:
Here is an interesting coincidence. I don't know how long this outfit has been in business.

CitySearch - Your local city guide

I see the "SC" too, but maybe that is because our eyes/brains are programed to see those shapes...
I tried looking at it upside down, sideways & reverse to stop my subconcious from doing that, and I think it might be a Chinese/Korean/Japanese Character or symbol?

I might just be going crazy at this point, but anyone else have a thought on that?

Just an FYI - Clark Baldwin was found GUILTY in Pamela McCall's murder & sentenced to LWOP. He will be shipping off to Wyoming - but no exact dates that I have heard. And which county he'll be going to - Sweetwater County (for Bitter Creek Betty) or Sheridan County (I-90 Jane Doe).
Hopefully, the two victims will be identified by name.

I believe LE knows "who" they are. I have one of the lady's name, but can not publish it yet until it appears in any media articles. I read the Sheridan thread - and she has also been identified, but her name has not been released.

She has officially been named in this new article.

"Bitter Creek Betty had been identified.

Using family-tree DNA companies, Young had found Bitter Creek Betty’s half-sister, who confirmed that her name was Irene Vasquez. The half-sister hadn’t heard from Vasquez since 1990."

So I guess he's going to Sweetwater County first then?

Sounds like it - from the article - this will be next - but not for a month or two - regarding some "final motions" in McCall trial.

Can we have the thread name updated to reflect the name reveal?

I can start a new thread - but do not have access to close this one - so will ask a Mod! :)

<modsnip - quoted post was removed>
The authorities actually figured out who she was a couple years ago but withheld that information as part of their murder investigation into her killer, Clark Perry Baldwin. Her name was publicly released yesterday.

Yes - according to my notes was id in July of 2021 - found March 1, 1992... almost 20 years.
And did post an article above where media has identified her by name.

Anyone here have access to Wyoming court sites? I believe I do not - so I am going to need "help" from at least one of you - to give me updates on hearing, etc. :) Anyone want to volunteer? TIA if you do! :D
Wyoming court records are not available online yet. There are kiosks/terminals in Wyoming courthouses for the public to view court records though. You can call the clerks to ask about details but for copies of documents you must pay a fee.

Thanks for that info.
Hmmm.... I have another case I am following in Wyoming & have a person that looks up the hearings for me. I will have to see if I can find that one....

If I have not said it before on this thread - this case will be next, as Baldwin will be extradited (probably take a month or two) to Sweetwater County. And then after Irene's trial - he will be shipped to Sheridan County. Not sure of his case is Missouri....
