YCSO: Woman steals purse, uses credit card for court fines

CORNVILLE, AZ – A woman was arrested for allegedly stealing a purse and using credits cards from the purse to pay court fines and bills, according to a Wednesday report. :doh:

Dwight D’Evelyn with the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Officer said on Sunday around 2 p.m. deputies responded to a report that a woman’s purse was stolen from inside her unlocked vehicle, which was parked in her driveway.

The victim reportedly told deputies that her purse was missing on Saturday evening and that there were two credit cards, a cell phone, a digital camera, and checkbooks inside of it.

D’Evelyn said on Monday the victim told an investigating deputy she contacted her bank and learned her stolen cards had been recently used.

In one case, someone apparently attempted to use her card to arrange vehicle towing service.

The victim reportedly called the local tow company and discovered a female had provided her credit card numbers during a request to tow a disabled truck on Echo Canyon Road.
