I've followed this case from day 1, although not on WS at the beginning. It's been very emotional, but today I cried the hardest I have during this case, listening to Karen give a victim impact statement. :heartbeat:

I missed a few minutes.

Can someone explain to my what they are talking about as to the juror notes. Whaaaaaahhh, how are the jurors allowed to keep their notes? Is that what I'm hearing? Why would this happen as I've never heard about such in my life.

I thought Harmony posted a link at t beginning of the thread this morn that stated

Autry has worked out a deal with prosecutors already

The calm, soft-spoken & measured ADA actually teared up at the Press Conf:

- "She [Holly] was shown no grace by these defendants."

The sentencing cannot take away his rights to appeals. I don't know that I've ever followed a trial were a plea agreement for sentencing was granted. Maybe I have and forgotten.

The judge needs to retire, IMO. I'm still shocked he said this was the longest trial he's done in 25yrs! Then, to point to specific jurors and state he knows them, their family, etc.... beyond abnormal. I don't know the law enough to say it's grounds for appeal or anything like that. But that was bizarre!

May the Bobo family rest easier, and enjoy their life. They must find some joy and heal.

I really think this particular team of prosecutors did a superb job in this case

They were excellent together!

Also, I stopped following this case very very early on & yet I was able to follow their presentation very easily

which hasn't always been my experience when watching other trials

from 9-14-17 date: The sentencing hearing for the man convicted of killing missing teen Sierra LaMar was abruptly postponed Thursday after defense attorneys moved to disqualify the judge for failing to disclose a potentially significant conflict of interest, which they claim is grounds for a new trial in the capital case.
The defense learned Wednesday after working with Judge Vanessa A. Zecher for more than a year that she had once represented the prosecution’s lead investigator, Sheriff’s Sgt. Herman Leon, whose integrity has become a major issue in the Sierra trial and in another recent murder case. According to multiple sources, the judge said she did not recall representing Leon until defense attorneys brought up the issue as grounds for disqualifying her from sentencing him Friday, and for a new trial.
The motion for disqualification is set to be heard in late October, most likely by a judge from outside the county. Santa Clara County court site says hearing today.

**Update 9/16: A judge from outside the county will most likely hear the motion for disqualification, but no date has been set yet. In the meantime, Zecher postponed the sentencing hearing until Sept. 28. However, it could once again be delayed if the disqualification issue has not been resolved.
**Another article says: "The sentencing was scheduled for Friday but pushed back after the 170.3 complaint was filed Thursday. Rada said a decision on the 170.3 complaint will be made during arguments all day Sept. 28 and in the morning of Sept. 29 in the morning."

Friday, Sept. 29th:
*Status Hearing - DC - Pamela Butler (47) (Feb. 12, 2009) - Jose Rodriguez-Cruz (47) BF, accused of 1st degree murder/deceased-not found

*170.3 Complaint Hearing (to remove Judge) / Sentencing delayed from 9/14/17 - CA - Sierra LaMar (15) (Mar. 16, 2012) - Antolin Garcia-Torres (26) found guilty-expected sentence - LWOP

The sentencing cannot take away his rights to appeals. I don't know that I've ever followed a trial were a plea agreement for sentencing was granted. Maybe I have and forgotten.

So he got LWOP instead of the death penalty and he still has the right to appeal. Sounds like one heck of a good deal for him. Could it get any better than that (for him)?

I told you I followed a LOT of cases here! :giggle: and that's just next week! LOL!

Yes, on Sierra's case..... :gaah: Not really sure about "what" will happen on Sept. 28th, as two different articles had something different. Motion to disqualify and sentencing :dunno: what is going to happen. Maybe Emi can chime in! :)
