Just a guess but maybe they grabbed up everything they thought was Holly's and just threw the stuff out of the window and that is why the panties ended up with Holly's belongings.

Just thought of something. Holly's mom said the panties belonged to Holly since she did the laundry. So it's still possible the panties are Holly's but just don't have HER DNA. Maybe they DO have the mother's which would tie them to Holly.

It is plausible that Holly took a spare set of underwear in her backpack (change at gym, that time of month, etc). 🤔

There are times I feel sorry for the defense attorney. It's embarrassing how she fumbles thru her papers and seems so lost. Then I think...no matter how terrible she is, it only takes one juror to wreck this case.
I know how you feel. Only one juror can undo an entire case. Scary.

This terribly sad case keeps reminding me of a guest Oprah had on her show many years ago, retired Detective Sanford Strong, who gave the advice to never allow an attacker to take you to a second location, ever.

I've always told my daughter that. Do whatever you have to do but never let him put you in a car. Even if he has a gun, run. Chances are he'll miss. If he gets lucky and your shot chances are it won't be life threatening. But if you get in the car you probably won't survive.

Welcome! Jmo here but you're right, the jury will have to be able to extract truth from fiction here. If you subtract the, IMO, fact that he is guilty as hell and just go with the rest of the story, it's plausible, IMO. Of course you have to assume that he is going to CYA on his involvement but you have to just wait until his trial to put much into that story.

Mom lied to LE about her daughter's age.

She did it in a desperate attempt to find her before it was too late.

She hoped LE would issue an Amber Alert if they thought Holly was younger.
Am I totally out in left field here but I thought you had to have a make of a vehicle in order to put Amber Alert out.

I wonder how long before they had the neighbors description of a white truck?

Zach is so much larger than Holly that I can imagine her being physically picked up and put into the truck. I think someone else was in the truck waiting and drove off as soon as the kidnapper had Holly in the truck.

It appears though that her age was the least of the lies and the defense attorney knows of more that are more significant.

I would lie too if it would help find my daughter.

It didn't help though. Her real age was cleared up within 20 minutes of her mom giving the wrong age.

When you say "lies" are you referring to other witnesses in general or Holly's mom? What lies does the defense know of?

We don't know yet but I'm sure we'll hear about it from defense. Booth admitted there were lies and omissions from all three Bobo's that gave probable cause for a search warrant of the Bobo's finances.

I think it is helpful to the defense, that Booth got a search warrant to investigate the Bobos. It shows they didn't have a blindspot and went ahead and looked at everyone.

They had to be suspicious of Clint. He was the last one known to be with Holly. We only had his word that he saw her walking with a man in camo/

As far as TBI knew, Clint could have injured her in the garage...and lied about the abductor.

ETA: I KNOW it didn't happen that way. Just saying that the TBI had to investigate the possibility...

:

The defense asks the witness " You obtained a search warrant for the Bobo's banking records because you believed Dana, Karen and Clint Bobo had made false, misleading statements and omissions that were critical to the disappearance of Holly" The defense attorney then asks what these statements and omissions were. He can't recall. And this was well into the investigation. It was on January 10th, 2013.

It is a good thing the jury is sequestered:

http://wreg.com/2017/09/15/police-drug-bust-nets-major-drug-dealer-former-boyfriend-of-holly-bobo/

Deputies: ‘Major’ drug dealer arrested in Decatur County
<modsnip>

Also inside the home was Blake Barnett, a former boyfriend of Holly Bobo.

Authorities confirmed he was arrested, but wouldn’t release any information on charges.

I find this very interesting. A google search of this guy finds this:
"DECATURVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
The former boyfriend of the missing Holly Bobo has been arrested in Decatur County.

Authorities said Blake Barnett was arrested early Thursday morning on charges of domestic assault and kidnapping.

Details about the charges are not available.

A spokesman for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Barnett's arrest was not related to Bobo's disappearance in April 2011.

A Bobo family friend told Channel 4 News that Bobo and Barnett broke up before the nursing student disappeared and the split was not amicable.

Two other men have been charged with the kidnapping and murder of Bobo, who vanished from her Decatur County home."

And now this arrest...There are times as I listen to this trial when I think Holly may have known these guys that took her...nothing about that thought means they should not be found totally guilty but I think it maybe was easier to take her than one thinks.
I can only think this guy was completely checked out at the time of the kidnapping.

I think Karen knew about some of these guys and that is why she was so quick to know this was bad....very bad and reacted with her comments to Clint etc.

it seems odd that he "can't recall" that...seems like somthing that would stick out. I can only assume defense will be bringing this back...I think we have some serious surprises coming up...I am beginning to wonder if the defense attorney will surprise us during her case in chief.

My understanding is different states have different criteria.
