Zagreb, Croatia - 5 adults, 1 child murdered in unprecedented crime

Taxi driver Igor Nad stormed a house with a Kalahnikov in New Zagreb last night and murdered 6 people. Among those killed were two men, three women(including his ex wife) and a 10-year-old child. A 7 month old baby was spared.

Police responded to a call at 9:30pm and swarmed the streets opening every car trunk and canvasing homes, beginning a manhunt that lasted into the early morning. The shooter was caught around 4am in a nearby neighborhood where he shot himself dead when cornered.

Most of this coverage will be in Croatian so you will need to use Google Translate, but I wanted to share this story for for those of you who like to keep tabs on and research family annihilators and also to point out that that crimes like this are extremely rare in Croatia.
This is the worst (non-political) crime since the civil war ended. Automatic firearms are absolutely prohibited to civilians, though many war veterans and those who participated in the war in the 90's still have them or assorted ammo/equipment.

If I hear more about the motive I'll be sure to share.

This hits too close to home, as a Croatian. The foreign sources reported it slightly wrong though, the deceased are his former girlfriend (i havent found wife in Jutarnji List, one of the mainstream news sources), her sister, sister's child, their parents, and an unidentified man. The baby was the shooter's child.

The media always seems to get some things wrong. They keep calling him a taxi driver as well, when he was apparently an Uber driver (but I understand not mentioning that as it really has nothing to do with the crime)

On the motive:

The victims are named here as Maja Tojagic (35 and shooter's ex), her son Paulo (10, child from previous relationship), Maja's sister Josipa Tojagic and her boyfriend Davor Paušak, their parents Dragomir Tojagic and Filjka Tojagic.


Maja and Igor were engaged to be married but appear to have had a falling out (her fb status was single and she wasn't sharing photos of her new baby like she used to of her 10 yr old). Their bodies were on the lawn outside the house. After killing three women and a child in cold blood, Igor Nadj continued inside. Josipa's boyfriend Davor was shot dead in the hallway. The last member of the Tojagic family, Josipa was killed by Nadj in the kitchen.

A friend of Maja's says:
Maja was a good girl and a good colleague. We worked in one massage parlor. Igor came to her for a massage and that is how their relationship began. She was divorced and had a baby. She really cared about the baby as a real mother. I know for Igor that he was a drug dealer and that he was dealing. May never complained about him, but that was the beginning of their relationship.
