A large team of searchers spent Friday searching the area around Christie Road in Caldwell County. They confirmed that they found "additional evidence" during Friday's search, but have not said what that evidence is. Shortly before the search ended for the day, investigators gathered and appeared to pray.

Zahra's biological mother speaks out to Australian press

SYDNEY, Australia -- The biological mother of an Australian girl who was reported missing from her home in North Carolina nearly a month ago said through tears Friday that she believes her daughter is dead.

Emily Dietrich, whose 10-year-old daughter Zahra Baker was living in Hickory, N.C., with her father and stepmother, said she has little hope she will ever see Zahra alive again.

"I don't feel it," she told Australia's Seven Network in her first interview since the girl's disappearance. "I reckon that mothers just have this bond with their children and I think having any hope in me makes it hurt more."

"The stepmother of a missing 10-year-old girl in North Carolina said during a jailhouse visit with two relatives this week that she blames a lot of her current predicament on her husband, one of those relatives said Friday."

""As we talked with her, she cried over missing Zahra and how her husband has left her to take all the blame for what has happened when he played a big part in this terrible situation," the cousin said... "

Baker empties house into U-Haul

Christie Road search concludes

By RICHARD GOULD
Published: November 07, 2010

HICKORY -- Adam Baker was spotted along with his mother, brother and assorted friends and family as they loaded the Bakers’ possessions into a U-Haul truck Saturday afternoon.

About 10 people gathered in front of the home as furniture and other possessions were carried out of the house at 21 21st Ave. to the truck.
....................
As word got out that the Bakers were at the house, local people began to gather, and the tension built as they took pictures with their cell phones.

Eventually Baker’s mother came out of the house to ask the people to leave her family alone.

“She said, ‘Please stop taking the pictures. You don’t know what’s going on and you shouldn’t judge until you have all the facts,’” McAlpine said.

Inside Zahra's house: Belongings removed, but damage is extensive
On Friday, those might have been the only two normal things in the house her family has since been evicted from. Over the weekend, Adam Baker, Zahra's father, moved everything out of the house, including Zahra's clothes and toys.

Elsewhere, the house was a mess: walls were punched through, entire sinks were missing and there were holes through the floor and ceiling. Outside, in the front yard, a small shrine to Zahra continues to grow.

Investigators looking into Elisa Baker's finances

Baker’s cousin wouldn’t discuss any of the specifics of her conversations with Elisa.

"Sorry, but what our conversations are about have to be private. She's very upset."

Investigators issued a subpoena for Elisa Baker's financial records. The subpoena was issued to a bank branch located in a Wal-Mart in Granite Falls.

The subpoena says she may have used as many as eight different aliases and also requested any financial transactions made by Baker's daughter from a previous marriage, Amber Fairchild
