ZFG Civil Case: Casey's Deposition #2

After the sheriff's dept questioned this woman because her name appeared on the visitor card at the Sawgrass apartments on June 17, 2008 (her name is not Zenaida F-G but Zenaida C.G., you still see that misinformation a lot because the media repeated it so much over the past three years)--from that point on, it was this woman's own lawyers who kept her face and name in the media, making numerous media appearances and starting all this litigation. Casey Anthony stated on videotape while in prison early in the case that this was not the woman who was "the babysitter". Yet, it was Casey who had mentioned a similar name (though there were/are other people by the name Zenaida and Zanny, various spellings of the nickname, Gz in Orlando and surrounding area) and Casey did mention that apartment complex.
Of course this woman was different from Casey's description of "the nanny" in almost every detail: age, physical appearance, job, educational background, family/friend/roommate's names, etc. (At least one of the other ZGs in the surrounding area matched the description more closely but was apparently never interviewed.) The few similarities between Casey's description and this woman, Zenaida C. Gz, were the similar name, the model of car, and the Sawgrass connection. Wonder what will become of this case, when Casey A and her family insisted so many times throughout the case beginning so early that this was not "the nanny"....yet, she was there, she had that similar name, she was questioned by police, etc.

Wonder if Casey A may have more grounds for the countersuit than ZCG and her lawyers have for this lawsuit. Because ZCG made the claim in local and national media on several occasions that Casey A had given all her details and family members' names to police and that Casey A had identified her as "the nanny", and had endangered her children by giving their names in her police statements and to media etc. I always wondered who gave ZCG this idea? Because Casey A did not give any of this woman's details or children's names, etc, she gave a completely different description, different names of people who supposedly lived with "the nanny", said the nanny had NO children, all different info. The way this woman's details became known to the public was through the visitor card she had filled out for Sawgrass Apartments which was collected as evidence by the sheriff's office and released in the course of the case under the sunshine law.

If only she would testify without disguises or taking the 5th amendment a whopping 60 times. Regardless of the details, which many people may not know...she suffered directly because of FCA's lies. If you throw a rock into a crowd, you are responsible for the damage, even if you don't know the person you hit.

IMO...moot...'cause she dropped the countersuit.

Sorry:hand:, NOT buying it!!!:snooty: Casey clearly had enough details of this particular woman's life that it was not a coincidence. This Zenaida Gonzalez was threatened with eviction, lost her job, and received death threats all because Casey chose her name on which to give a real name to "Zanny" and base her lies upon, which was probably the Xanax she'd been giving Caylee. When Casey was cornered into her lies by LE- she sent them on a wild goose chase and then changed details of ZG's life and said "she's not a 10!". This is not publically denying that ZF-G kidnapped/harmed Caylee. How could this have happened and why if in reality Caylee drowned???
P.S. How do you defend Cindy getting on national television and proclaiming Zenaida Gonzalez as the kidnapper, particularly when Cindy wasn't willing to physically go and search for Caylee herself???

BTW if anyone can find me a link to a reliable source of information showing that ZG had a silver Ford Focus or anything remotely similar, I'd love to see it. Casey's "details" regarding ZFG were, IMO, made up from scratch. The only things she got "right" were the first and last name.

My best guess is that ZG visited one or more of the same apt complexes that Tony and his roommate (with Casey coming along for the ride) visited during the same couple of days in mid-June, and ZG filled out a card at one of those places listing "Sawgrass" as another apt complex she had looked at in the area. If Casey had used the "Zanny" name or possibly even "Zenaida Gonzales" in the past and was frantically trying to come up with some "nanny details," a card like that would have caught her eye. IIRC, she didn't have her license when Tony and his friend were looking at one apt (Crane something?--where her friend worked) and had to sit in the office waiting for them to get back. No doubt she felt free to paw through the visitor cards while she was sitting there...

Would she have a case against the apartment community for leaving her personal information lying around for someone to go through? I fight my staff constantly to put away files and other information they are working on when they are with new prospects.

No, not unless there's some crazy apartment-visitor-confidentiality law in Florida. :)

BTW, vlpate, I wouldn't assume that the apt. staff left ZG's info "lying around." I'm sure Casey wouldn't have a problem with snooping around. ;)

I'm not sure about actual laws, but most Real Estate management companies have all staff sign confidentiality agreements with regard to the highly personal information they are responsible to collect daily. Those "guest cards" have a lot of confidential information - some include DL #, SS#, and phone numbers as well as address and employment information. Their license is usually thrown in a drawer until the tour is over, or they make a copy of it to go with the guest card information. All that's needed is mother's maiden name - which is easily obtained on facebook. On HSN this weekend they were offering an $89 hand-held scanner that could scan/capture all of this information in about one minute that could later be downloaded to a computer as a pdf or .jpeg. Pretty scary....especially in the hands of someone like Casey Anthony.

I wouldn't call a confidentiality law that protected this information crazy. Here in Texas, and it may be the same in Florida, the car dealerships are required to shred a visitor's information once the visitor doesn't qualify or decides not to purchase a vehicle. Sounds silly, but criminals were digging this information out of dumpsters behind the dealership and stealing identities.

I'd be nervous if I were the management company for Sawgrass because I've seen a lot of lawsuits in this business set precedents that have changed the way we do business for the past 30 years.

A question AZlawyer.
OCA has been convicted of lying and has served her time. She has been acquitted of murder and can't be retried.
Is it possible she is pleading the 5th in this Zenaida case to avoid incriminating herself with something directly related to it, that is, let's say stalking or theft, rather than the things we already know she's done or to avoid a wrongful death suit somewhere down the line?

  • #1,472
Why should her deposition be sealed to protect her? The only people in danger here are the people who will unknowingly associate with Casey in the future, if and when, she changes her name. She's proven she is a danger to others - both their property and to children.

It adds insult to injury that she is allowed this protection in addition to her undeserved freedom. JMO

Casey is appealing the lying conviction. She can plead the 5th on everything relating to those lies (i.e., everything interesting to us) until that appeal and any retrial, etc., is completely concluded. IMO that's all there is to it. Morgan apparently didn't understand this aspect of 5th amendment rights, which is understandable as it isn't his area of practice.

Ah ok. Thanks very much for the reply and the understanding. Naturally, we don't use your 5th Amendment here (although we do have a right not to answer based on similar grounds), so forgive me if I get a little confused with it sometimes.
No wonder she invoked it sixty times then. Everything, as you say, related to the lies would be everything. Literally.

I've thought about the same thing-the countersuits or possible other lawsuits, not only for ZG, but for some of the others who have talked on various shows and media. Some of the ones speaking did lay it all out on the line, but now that she has been found not guilty, can these peoples words come back to haunt them and hit them in their pocketbook? I shudder to think there's going to be a long line of depositions and possible payouts to her.

IDK, sometimes I really think a smokescreen went up regarding FCA not speaking to her parents. I wouldn't be very surprised if they are supporting her financially, I wouldn't be surprised if somebody in the group, from attorneys to friend of the family didn't get a place for her with some foundation money. I think the opposite way of what any of them put out in the media.

She had plenty of opportunity to clear Zenaida's name. When asked by Cindy if anyone had shown her a photo lineup of Zenaidas she denied it, and on videotape told Cindy that she absolutely had NOT ruled out 'that woman in Kissimmee' to LE- there is no doubt as to which Zenaida she is referring to. She put a target on her back and let Cindy take aim. She wanted Zenaida to be a suspect as long as it suited her story, regardless of what that public defamation of Zenaida cost her and her children.

I believe FCA's exact words were 'they're full of s**t' when CA told FCA that LE showed her a photo lineup. CA knew she was lying and still went on the news that night to spread the Zanny the Nanny lie. I really hope Morgan goes after CA next.

IMO

It's amazing to me, that the whole Anthony clan lead the world to believe that ZG had something to do with this for 3 years. Meanwhile, KC is feeding her Dr's & defence team another story about George.
Lie on top of lie on top of lie.

Lie on top of lie on top of lie.

BBM - Well said com n sense - now that we've had some time to step away from the trial and the verdict and look at this case (a little more) dispassionately, the number of lies OCA and her family told on her behalf is really startling.

This is one of the reasons I believe OCA is a sociopath. Your person with even an average range of emotions could not consistently live in the very intricate web of lie upon lie and stay balanced. I think it would drive that person as I like to say - over the edge trying to remember what you said to who - when...
