It wouldn't do any good to depose her at this point she will just plead her 5th amendment rights.

During the discussion about costs associated with the case from the State, and Judge Perry scheduling that hearing, he stated that one judge was leaving and another was going to be on vacation during certain periods. That he would have to take over their cases.

But I don't recall which judge was retiring/leaving.

IIRC, HHJP stated Judge Adams was retiring.

She has to appeal the lying charges. Baez didn't think ahead when admitting that his client lied. Now all of these lawsuits will be able to use these verdicts against her. LOL I guess Casey isn't going anywhere for a while.

Didn't JP also say she could not leave the state for 30 days or until she filed her appeal or waived it? My guess is the appeal document was signed last night and will be filed with the court today. jmo

We all saw her in court...the day she thought she was going to get released...did she appear not together, stressed, suffering from any form of trauma? Defense wants her to talk to the people with the money - first.

I think anyone would show relief and perhaps happiness if they were getting released from jail after being in 23 hr per day solitary confinement for 3 years.

Casey Anthony News13 BREAKING!!!! #CaseyAnthony is appealing her 4 guilty charges. Defense files notice of appeal. -jfell

Is this so she could plead the 5th? I hate our system!

Hey what if Casey goes into this appeal process and says that she never admitted to her Attorney that she lied? This could open up a whole can of words about her defense in the criminal trial. Here we go...... this is going to be fun. I can't wait. This just plays into the hands of all of the civil suits.

This is a defense mis-step. They should have walked away with their victory instead of being greedy.

Please don't punish us Floridians any further. We've already paid dearly for this travesty. I could understand not wanting to go to Pinellas county but don't punish the rest of us for their stupidity.

Suzi - I was born in Broward, so I am eternally tied to the place with a piece of paper that says Certificate of Live Birth. My little protest won't amount to carp, so don't worry - and hey, I live in Blago-land, for now and the count down clock is ticking on that, but we're not exactly known for being particularly pristine around here...

P.S. There is absolutely NO SMILEY available to describe what I am feeling right now...................

so - now she's indigent again so looks like Floridians will be paying for her appeal as well.

the state wouldn't pay for a civil case, would they?

I know. And I like Florida but this kinda shifts the focus from the jurors to the court

Oh, I hope Casey does appeal it!!!
If Casey can appeal this, why can't the state appeal on the not guilty status?

This smells like CM to me, CageCageCage Miranda and big scary officers...

Oh CM all wrapped up in the constitution, snug as a bug.

Oh yes. Aren't you just tired of hearing CM and his self-righteous, personal, custom-fitted constitution? The one that applies to him and his client but not anyone else?

I believe there are a couple of video tapes that would tend to contradict that. I think they want it down to 1 count, and as I said before, this seems to me to be CMs dog and pony show now.

You Floridians all need to step up to the plate and change your court system. It is way out of line and appears to be very unethical. I have never seen a court system like you all have there. Whats happened there would never happen in other courts. You all need to raise cain there and change this. Something is very wrong with the Florida courts. Its a real travesty. I guess as long as things take place there there will never be any relief. Just let killers go free, rob people, steal $$ from their accts, give her 1 year punishment but let her go because someone made a clerical error. Then have a judge recuse himself for no reason the day of a hearing. They are all in bed together there. Something very wrong.

Oh the jury too, tripped up. I guess they didn't follow someones directions/orders. My, my, I bet the only thing the jury is sorry about is that they convicted her of lying. my opinion only.

Ok for the ones that don't know anything whatsoever about laws and courts and the whole charade can you please put into English what the point is in the appealing to the 4 charges!?? Please and thank you!

  • #1,038
well apparently she has realized or been advised that she cannot change her name because of the felony convictions?

I guess if you're going to appeal those four then one should appeal ALL of them. None of this makes any sense to me at the moment. ha ha ha

This is not unique to Florida. We AMERICANS need to step up and demand some changes. Florida is enacting legislation such as Caylee's law and the non-payment (for their stories after serving) to jurors.

Don't think for 1 second that the good citizens of Florida are happy about this sad state of affairs.

Exactly, exactly, exactly. They aren't going to be able to have it both ways.

I can sort of see now how this whole sordid story is going to play out in th courts. Criminal case over, but remember all those people we used to say were destroyed over this Anthony web of lies and deceit? It will now be their turn in civil courts.
