LP said in his interview that a friend in New York brought it to his attention. Did not sound like it was TM.

Here's a snip of LP on Nancy Grace Aug. 15, 2008 from the above transcript:
LEONARD PADILLA, BOUNTY HUNTER: Good afternoon. How are you?
GRACE: I`m fine. Who contacted you about this case, sir?
PADILLA: The original contact came from a friend of mine in New York, who suggested that there was something that could be done here. And I myself and my family have gotten involved in high-profile cases in the past, and sometimes it required bailing a person out of jail so they could talk to somebody other than law enforcement.
Obviously, in this particular situation, he put me in contact with the attorney, and I discussed it with the attorney.
I think it's entirely possible that it's Geraldo. Maybe he hopes he'll get exclusives from JB. It would make sense to me because JB was on his boat and the constant pandering to him is nauseating. Geraldo used to be on every night so maybe he's looking for a resurgence of his career. Of course this is JMO.
I don't think Geraldo has the cash to finance the defense. He has too many ex wives and children.
LOL - I agree.
I still thing it is a mafia type involved in sex and drugs.
Like PB...I still would ask WHY? why is someone paying so much to pay legal fees for this case? there must be a real big reason.
I sure do not think that a book "rights" will ever recoup all the legal fees.
I don't think Geraldo has the cash to finance the defense. He has too many ex wives and children.
You would be surprised at the people out there that have nothing better to do with their money.
And WHY would Rupert Murdock need to get his hands dirty????True-but Geraldo works for Rupert Murdoch!!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rupert_Murdoch
According to the 2009 Forbes 400, Murdoch is the 132nd-richest person in the world, with a net worth of $4 billion
And WHY would Rupert Murdock need to get his hands dirty????
I doubt it.

How the heck can an unemployed person bring in 1400.00? She is really a character!
All in all, this blog makes me wonder more about how this defense team is being paid, and if Casey did actually speak with Baez way before her arrest...

I am not totally convinced that it was specifically Casey who initially requested the presence of Jose Baez at the jail......
Could it possibly have been Cindy or George who contacted Baez (or called a friend, who passed along his name) as soon as Casey was handcuffed and placed in a cop car to be transported to jail? (If one of my kids was arrested, you can bet I would be on the phone before they left the driveway!)
If considering RH ponderings as to why Casey would have so quickly began filling out paperwork to be considered indigent, wouldn't it make sense that she would if she was NOT aware that an attorney had been called by one of her parents and was actually on the way?
And isn't it reasonable to think that if Cindy or George contacted Baez immediately that it could have been THEM who promised to provide retainer fee?
Yup...it's reasonable...but IIRC George wasn't too keen on Baez initially and questioned his appearance as Casey's attorney as well.Bringing this over from the news section..

There's always been a question about how he was being paid. It set the stage for a bar complaint if I'm not mistaken. This same complaint, though, was criticized on that blog. I'm not sure if RH is directly "going there" IMO, but he seems to be hinting at that (payment). IMO he's more interested in how Baez came on the scene so quickly...and the implications for the case.Bringing this over from the news section..

I thought it could be in reference to reward money for Caylee.RHornsby speculates on how Baez was hired as Casey's attorney. He does not believe that an inmate gave her his number. After a quite lengthy blog, his best guess seems to be that one of Casey's ex-boyfriends had used Baez in the past, and he believes it is Jesse Grund.
That reminded me of what Jesse told Amy in text messages to Amy on 22nd July 2008.
At 3. 3 pm- ok tell troy not to tell anyone! Very important. Ears everywhere. How are things going downtown? Do you know who harris rosen is?
3.51pm - they are coming. Harris is a billionaire landowner and hotel guy. He own the rosen hospitality school.i reached out to him and he is on vacation but got my message and has put his support behind us....
Not sure whose support he's referring to here; his, Amy's or Casey's.
