aha. BK has a theory. If DT doesnt bring witnesses JM cant rebutt and play JA interview asking for the DP.

That must be it!!!! Because everything Nurmi said did not make any sense in any way, shape or form.

I have even less respect for defense counsel now. They represent their client by lying and cheating. Not impressive.

I almost think they should give her LWOP. Then she has to cough up the money for an appeal. I seriously doubt any lawyer would step in pro bono and represent her.

THANK YOU! I didn't get to see today's proceedings.. but WOW! It's interesting that CKJA family came today all together for 1st time..

I think things have been more than fair for her.. It's shame no one wants to stand up & speak on her behalf but then again isn't that a testament to the kind of person you were to others?

JMO

L. Kirk Nurmi stood before the Court, the judge, and the jury and promised that they would hear from witnesses.

He lied.

And the Court said she would NOT read a statement saying that their witnesses were not testifying due to threats b/c IT ISN'T TRUE!!!!

Seems to me he testified on cross that he loaned JA the gas cans knowing she was going to Mesa. In the interview he stated he did not know she was going to Mesa.

You are correct and here is a link:

And, as you listen, you will hear that his voice cracks as if he had initially been trying not to tell the truth but then he knew he had to tell the truth about knowing Jodi was going to Mesa.

Imagine from all the restaurants JA worked in there is not one manager, supervisor or co worker that the DT could drum up to speak of something good JA did as an employee!

Exactly. This is a really good point.

I thought he sounded a little too practiced and rehearsed, although for the most part I think he would have been a good witness for her.

I suspect that, although he didn't realize it at the time, he was expecting Jodi to live like a normal adult, to hold a job and pay her bills and be responsible, and she did that . . . until she realized there was no marriage proposal in the offing. Then she simply reverted to what she always was. He can blame it on The Secret or the Mormon church or sunspots or whatever he wants, but it is most likely that she simply hid the real Jodi from him and he hasn't figured it out yet.
When asked why he wanted to speak, his answer was not what I expected to hear. It wasn't really about speaking for her, but IMO, it was his chance to defend his own name. To tell the world he didn't know this person - she was different when he knew her. I think he's embarrassed to have his name associated with her now, and he obviously cares about his son and what he probably thinks too.

LOL @NG... "Even Bundy's mother, for pete's sake" testified for her son...

Was Nurmi "intimidating" Judge Stephens when he said the defense won't put up any mitigation witness after the motion of mistrial was denied?

I think HE thinks so...JSS looked like she just wasn't having it. I thought Wilma was gonna cry!!

According to AZ lawyer, JM probably wasn't going to be able to use that anyway. As it turns out, I don't even think JM needs it. Things are looking pretty good right now.

Then throw in that JSS was NOT happy there weren't other witnesses ready to go.

This is all just a scheme by Nurmi/It. I'm glad JSS said 'fine will your client allocute then?'
:facepalm::jail::scared::floorlaugh::banghead:

BBM
I agree! I don't think that was the response Nurmi was expecting :floorlaugh:

I'm so confused...JSS has bent over backwards for the defense making sure there are no appellate issues and yet there is still threat after threat of what CMJA is going to use as appellate issues...I am...LOST

That's a very good point. He came across to me as being in total denial about what happened between them. Now he's trying to explain how he could get mixed up with her in the first place. Well, the woods are full of people who've been taken advantage of by the Jodi's of the world.

IMO, because JA is so eagerly awaiting her time in court...I recommend that the family and any spectators refrain from the courthouse tomorrow for her testimony.

If no one shows up for the performance...what a failure she would be!! LOL

I know Travis family has been on board from the very beginning...and would be unbelievably difficult to not show up, but she has been found guilty and the family has given their VIS so there is nothing further this little family could do to ensure the DP.

JA is looking for a stage in which to perform.... to further trash Travis' reputation, to bolster her fake claims of abuse, to throw her attorneys under the bus, to blame the prosecution, etc.

What I wonder ... will Juan be able to object to her ramblings about abuse, self defense, etc.? Is this performance tomorrow supposed to be about the benefits of saving her life?

I really do think this is a wonderful idea. Not sure what the impact would be on the jury, but if NO ONE but JA, her defense team and JM showed up, wouldn't that be hilarious??

Do not give this woman the satisfaction of giving her sob story again. What's done is done and I think Travis' family has suffered enough. This would be the ultimate insult to JA and her defense team...

Well in your 48 years on this earth we've had so many devastating murders...believe it or not some even more encompassing than the Arias case -- murders where multiple people were slaughtered, small children, pregnant women and murders that took longer than 1 or 2 minutes. To name a few: Manson Family, Jeffrey MacDonald, Diane Downs, various serial killers like BTK, Hillside Stranglers, Ted Bundy, Richard Ramirez, the Petit family murders...gosh the list could go on and on and on. All murders are horrible and all families are devastated. When children are involved or babies or pregnant women...it just doubles and triples the grief and devastation.

Arias' crime, while horrible, is kind of somewhere in the middle of the spectrum if one looks across a continuum of murders and murderers. That's not to make light of what Travis went through, not at all.

Indeed if one considers the macabre cruelty wreaked upon mankind in war ie WWII gratis NAZI Germany and Japan, the Middle Ages and even before (Attila the Hun) Jodi Arias ' crime is merely child's play.

So they are fair game if they do things we don't like? Can't say I agree to that.

No, not fair game. But you can't get up on the sensationalistic HLN shows telling one story, and then claim media backlash as the reason you can't get up and testify in court when your story no longer benefits the convicted murderer. I never personally sleuthed anything about any of the DT witnesses, but IMO they should have known what they were getting themselves into. The publicity was great as long as it suited them, but when things went south they pulled the Cheney Mason "court of public opinion" thing.

If the DT were doing their job, they would have prepared these witnesses for the fact that their personal foibles would likely be public fodder. I guess they skipped that part when they did their witness instruction.

While I have no illusions that Jodi has any real feelings for anyone other than herself, I am praying she will have SOME level of decency when she speaks.
If she believes she still has a shot at saving her life, I believe she may reign in what she wants to say.
If she feels her fate is sealed, I am afraid she will do something horrible like RAD did when he was found guilty of the murder of Polly Klaas. I PRAY she doesn't!

If you aren't aware of what I am talking about:

Richard Allen Davis was allowed to address the court. He again asserted that he had not sexually abused his victim but the way he made this claim shocked the courtroom. "The main reason I know I did not attempt any lewd act that night was because of a statement the young girl made to me while walking up the embankment," he recalled. " 'Just don't do me like my Dad.' "

A gasp went up. Marc Klaas shrieked, "Burn in hell, Davis!" Then guards hustled the grieving father out of the courtroom while several spectators burst into tears.

more info at: http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/serial_killers/predators/klaas/7b.html

Actually Marc Klaas was on HLN this morning and MK said that he was "going" for the defendant, that is why the guards escorted him out...
